President Ford, R.I.P.

President Ford was the only un-elected Vice President and the only un-elected 38th President of the United States. He died tonight. Ford's tenure lasted 865 days but it laid the groundwork to modern day America. He was the only other President I met. I met him at the Capitol Hill Club in DC in 1995. Ford was a gentleman.

The 1970's were a period of time when the American Foreign policy and American Dream seemed to ebb. President Ford came after the Democrats in Congress received the scalps of Nixon and Agnew. If Ford was not appointed by Congress, would the Democrats offer a Democrat for the Presidency? It is only due to the maturity of Speaker Carl Albert that this question need never be asked.

Ford's staff included Donald Rumsfeld and Richard Cheney. One was a former House member, and one was a future House member. Ford's presidency can be seen today in the War on Terror.

President Ford was provincial when it came to the House of Representatives. Ford brought calm during the whirlpools of the 70's. Godspeed President Ford.

This is not Thunderdome. This is New York State politics.

Last month, two men won their respective offices: State Comptroller Alan Hevesi won re-election and Eliot Spitzer won the Governorship. Now the charge against Hevasi is using Government vehicles for personal use. However, if you know New York City and State Politics, this is tiddly winks compared to what has been done before. Remember Gangs of New York? Tammany Hall is not a movie creation; Its roots lie deep throughout the state and New York City.

Hevasi used the Government vehicles to transport his sick wife. Under Liberalism, isn't this a good thing? Let's walk down Baker Street (or in NYC, Bleeker Street) for a moment.

Who had the power to investigate a State Officer? The State Attorney General.
Who was the last State Attorney General? Eliot Spitzer.
Why? Hevasi has worked a lot of years in the Queens and New York City and State Democratic Circles. Before I became a Republican, this was my training ground. In politics, people collect and use "chits" or favors to be used later. Hevasi racked up a lot of chits by playing it straight within the party. In four years, who would be Spitzer's challenger? Hevasi.

Two side notes: I haven't posted recently because of birthday, then being under the weather, and now Oscar season but now I'm back. And also, why would a Conservative Republican defend a Liberal Democrat in New York State?

Once upon a time I grew up in a town called Forest Hills in New York City. Hevasi's chief of staff lived there. I knew (and still know today) his daughter. She called to wish me a Happy Birthday. I know something as a Pragmatist, that an idealist always forgets, the Personal is never political.

First, read this post by my friend Rebbecca. Then, here is what happened today in history. I share the same birthday as Ludvig Van Beethoven and Philip K. Dick. Also today was the beginning of The Battle of the Bulge and the Boston Tea Party. Here are some birthday wishes:

  1. Raise the funds for the Annual fundraiser.
  2. Vern Buchanan gets seated in the 110th Congress.
  3. Eventually, to end up working in a policy job in Washington, DC.
  4. Be able to afford a new Car (Toyota Corolla LE)
  5. See Jimmy Buffett, Moby and Seal in a concert.
  6. Visit Israel again (last time was for my Bar Mitzvah in 1983).
  7. Live (and work) under a Republican Majority again (House, Senate and White House).
  8. To stop hearing from Democrats, "If we don't win, you cheated," And from Democrats, that they accept the Two party system. Sometimes the bear eats you.
  9. The Palestinians accepting the two-state solution and stop sending Homicide bombers and missiles into Israel.
  10. Eventually, to work for a Presidential Campaign in New Hampshire.
  11. See the Washington Redskins win a Super Bowl. Also, to watch live, the New York Yankees win the World Series.
  12. Take a vacation in the Caribbean and get licenced to Scuba Dive.

I have engaged in two posts on the Althouse site regarding Republicans and Liberals on the internet. A question came up, does JSF hate Left wingers? If I was asked, I would have said "No." But having been a former Liberal Democrat for New York City, I can despise what the Party and it's members have become.

Try engaging a Democrat (or Liberal) about the War in Iraq. They do not see how engaging Saddam Hussain and making Iraq a proving ground for terrorists (who have stated explicitly that they would attack the US again) makes us here a little bit more safe. As a Jew who was Bar Mitzvahed in Israel, I see the negative posts (and comments) about Israel on the Huffington Post and Daily Kos. My eyes have seen what I already knew.

And domestically? How do you engage in a conversation with someone who says, "If we don't win, you cheated." Because that is all the Democrats have been saying for the past six years. They won and they are still angry. Even during Impeachment, the Republicans in Washington still respected the institution of the Presidency. I can't find one Democrat online (or in real life) who would be civil to the President. I shook President Clinton's hand even though I was opposed to his policies. I was civil. Am I asking too much for the Democrats and their minions to act like adults?

So, Kofi Annan gave his final speech chastising the United States? I would be so bold to spend his ammunition at the United Nations. It's time has past, it's members live in the past (1950's - 1980), America must move past it. The United States is a Haven for countries with autocrats at it's head (i.e. Cuba, Venezuela, Sudan, etc). If the UN is capable of creating goodwill, why did it pass "Zionism is Racism?" And a majority of it's members continuously vote against the weakest member (Israel) and its sponsor member (the US)? How does this bring about World Peace? By continuing to believe the United Nations is capable of solving any problems, Leftists and Liberals believe in a dream that has died long ago.

Let us focus on what should be next. Let us put the UN next to the League of Nations as another failed experiment. Here should be the next one....

If you know your Congressional History, there are moments of Grand Debates of Constitutional Issues and then moments when the Congress has knife-fights in the gutter. The 110th Congress is going down into the gutter. Here's why:

In the 99th Congress, there was a election in the Indiana Eighth district won by Rick McIntire over Frank McClosky by 72 votes. The House (run by Tip O'Neill) did not recognize McIntire and seated McClosky. After that, the Republican members walked out and Newt Gingrich rose. Radical among moderates, the Democrats actions toward the Minority party caused the frictions that occured during the "Republican Dozen" years.

Now:

After three recounts where Vern Buchanan won by 373 votes, Speaker-to-be Pelosi is already threatening not to seat Rep. Buchanan. Echoes of the 99th Congress. If Pelosi does not seat Buchanan, the Republicans should walk out. Not only should they walk out, but Rep. Buchanan should be considered part of their caucus and vote on the floor. The Republicans should fight this battle every day in the Well and in the Committee rooms. Every Democrat member they meet on the subway, in the Longworth cafeteria, the Rayburn Gym or the Cannon Press room. Republicans should not let this be a repeat of the 99th Congress.

But I have faith that Speaker Pelosi will not be so partisan and reach out to the Minority party. She will seat Rep. Buchanan and the Florida Democrats will act like adults and prepare for 2008. I couldn't stop laughing trying to write that. If gentlemenly Tip O'Neill could not reach out, how can we expect better of Speaker Pelosi. But I do have faith.

An aside:

I actually have dealings with this seat. Back during the 104th Congress, I interned for Dan Miller (R-FL-13) . Also, Buchanan's chief of staff is one of my mentors. These are good people, and they deserve to be there.

The computer has been down and then came back up today, hence the fundraiser. But what a week it has been. The storm clouds are darkening, can you hear the thunder yet?

First, John Bolton leaves his post in Turtle Bay. Next, former Democratic President Jimmy Carter deigns that Jews are unfit to live in Israel, but Arafat's people are. The Iraq Study Group proposes surrender and hari-kari. And, finally, a delegation of Democratic politicians met with Hamas to decide the fate of Israel and Iraq,

These are foreshadowing of darker times ahead. Negotiating with Hamas, Hezbollah and Al Queda (in Iraq), where does that lead? They are not military armies content to get Real Estate. They wish to recreate Umayyads empire extending from Europe to Asia. And extend their Sharia laws to America and the United Kingdom.

The War in Iraq forced these disparate, but very determined groups to play defense. America leaves, they take the oil funds, 9/11 will be a minor blip compared to what will happen. And yet, the Democrats, have no qualms about sacrificing Israel or America to people who will either convert or kill.

A challenge to my Democrat readers. Again, prove me wrong. How many Minyans are in Mecca? How many Priests or Baptisms are in Indonesia? Will your fight for the Palestinians help stop the terrorists? I await an answer.

According to The Economist, the dollar is falling I read the article at lunch today and tried to put some pieces together. As the Latin saying goes, Cui Bono? , Who benefits? Let's walk down this path together....
The American economic system has many checks and balances. We have a central banking system [The Federal Reserve System] that has been determined for the last 20 years by either a Republican President (Bush pere, Bush fils) or a Republican Congress. Soros has been involved in financial speculation of different currencies since 1992, starting with the United Kingdom, and moving onto the Asian flu.
Now following this theory, most Wall Streeters talk of getting "Whales" of investors. For men of Soros' stature, they are looking for "Whale" economies. The United States is the biggest in the world (China is moving up). Start with influencing the Federal Reserve, and the appointment process of its Governors. If the GOP will not support Soros in his work, who will help?
Backing the Democrats in 2004 with 527 organizations, he fought President Bush on ideological grounds. But why? If America was truly a World Police State, there would be military troops in Putin's office, and around American cities. Soros used the specter of 9/11 to help break into the American financial markets. He attacks Bush through proxies, not because of his opposition to Bush's foreign policy, but his economic policies.
If Democrats win the Congress again in 2008, along with the Presidency, with Soros footing the bill, how soon before the Financial Speculators attack the American economy in 2010?

When Woodrow Wilson proposed his "14 Points" during the 1919 Paris Peace Conference, he opened up the door to American idealism in foreign policy. By the time of the Vietnam War, Nixionian Realism determined the opening to China.

The first term of the Bush Presidency was based on Wilsonian Ideals, Democracy for the Middle East, defend America by creating Capitalism abroad. Thanks to the results of the 2006 midterms, Bush pere's main advisor, James Baker, returns the Bush fils administration to the realist ideology. And with him comes the return of Realpolitiks to the Foreign policy desk.

Realpolitik is what brought the pre-World War One world to the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand. Leaving diplomacy to the diplomats brought the world to the brink. And today? The leaving of Wilsonian idealism brings the world closer to the "Archduke Ferdinand moment" (if it hasn't happened yet already). The chessboard is not the poppy fields of Europe, but the desert sands of the Middle East.

Under Realpolitik, Israel is put a pawn on a chessboard to be given away. Under Wilsonian rules, it is a lighthouse to a darkened area. Balance of power is an ideal goal for the Nixonians, but it is not how the world works today. During the 70's, the USSR was a balance to America. Balance of Power made sense. What is our balance today? The USSR might return, but not yet.

The realists are rising. The idealists are falling. Since 9/11, America has lived with the Damocles' Sword of another attack on our shores. By bringing Democracy to an autocratic region, America was building another pillar to use for the Realists. The return of the Realists is the end of a dream.

Thankgiving



We are coming to the end of the year. Storms are still gathering, but the world moves forward. Here is the history of the first Thanksgiving.

What am I thankful for in this year of Our Lord, 2006?

1) My Family. After my Dad's death in 2003, my Mom, sister and I might not have a lot of money, but we did have a lot of love. Thank you.

2) My friends. This has been a trying year, friends and allies lost, Dreams dashed and deferred, and betrayals. True friends stand by you, not when the everything is for you, but when things are tough. Thank you.

3) My friends in DC. Some have known me over a decade, one I've met last year. They inhabit the lobbying firms, the House, and the White House. I worry about their positions after this election. But if I can help them the same way they help me, I would. Thank you.

4) The readers of this Blog. Without you, I would not be here. Also, props to Blogger, Blogspot, Google, and AdSense. Stay with me, it will grow some more. Thank you.

5) The USA and Israel. Two democracies standing firm in this world. I grew up in the greatest country on earth, with the greatest political, economic, and social system on earth. The best flattery is imitation and who better then the Jewish state? Sh'ma Yishrael and God Bless America.

6) And thank you for reading this.

The storm is coming


At what point do we realize that the danger is coming? I've warned in an earlier post what could happen. Here is what is going on right now.
The Orchestra is practising before the show begins. Afghanistan and Iraq put the enemy in a defensive stance. Again, my liberal friends, are you willing to fight the Islamofacists on Santa Monica Blvd or Bleeker Street? The opening gun started with the murder of a Lebanese politician named Pierre Gemayel. The gun came from Assad in Syria . The bullet that flew to kill Gemayel is from the same people that gave us 9/11. Same ideology, no matter the country.
The Democrats throughout their campaign said "We must leave Iraq,". Fine. But we are facing a Stateless Enemy (or an NGO). We leave, where will they go?
Anti-Semitic Bloggers like the Heathlander believe the enemy is Israel and the United States. When the forced conversions begin, when the beheading begins (after we concede Israel to Hamas and Hezbollah), when woman wear Chadors, maybe the Democrats will join the War. Until then, I pray that we only hear thunder.

Will San Francisco join in?


Let's recap.
Rep. Charlie Rangal (D-NY), head of Ways and Means in the 110th Congress, offered (again) to initiate a National Draft for the Armed forces. However, let's take Speaker-to-be Pelosi's district and see how receptive they are to such an idea.
2004: Prop. I passes, thus dis-allowing the military to recruit from Public Schools and Universities.
2006: San Francisco dis-invites the famed USS Iowa from docking there. Also, they do not want the public schools to offer JROTC either.
If San Francisco, city of high rents and high culture doesn't want any military to be there. At all. The question becomes, if as a city of the United States, they will take the monetary benefits without the military proposals. Standing on idealism is fine, it's a political town. "Dissent is etc" but what is their duty to the United States?
If their duty is to oppose every GOP President and Congress, then is dissent allowed against Democrats in San Francisco? I think not. Hell, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors want regulate Blogs.
My question to the left side of the Blogosphere is: What does San Francisco owe the US if it won't join in support of our National welfare? What does the US owe San Francisco if the anti-military trend continues?

Point of Divergence


History occurs while we live our lives. In alternate history, points diverge, paths are taken, and most do not question what could have been. Come January 3rd, we will be at a point of divergence depending on what happens in Congress and the President.
Democrats have campaigned on leaving Iraq. Let's follow this point and see what the future holds....

March 15, 2007 - Congress authorizes and budgets re-deploying the troops to Okinawa, Japan. This is to be done within 6 months. President Bush (with help from his father's advisers) signs the bill and the budget.
September 2007 - Final troops leave Iraq. Iran and Syria having allied themselves with Al-Queda in Iraq, Hams and Hezbollah move in.
December 2007 - The Fertile Crescent, now empty of Western troops, allows the terrorist groups to align and take over Middle and Southern Iraq. Massacres of Shias and Sunnis who do not follow the "Islamic Coalition" occurs. Kurds defend themselves. American soldiers fighting in Darfur and cannot defend the innocent.
March 2008 - Islamic Coalition establishes control over Oil . Aligns with Venezuela and Iran. Iraq becomes "Islamic Republic of Iraq." Funds start to arrive from Oil selling.
June 2008 - Nuclear Bombs over Israel from Iran and Iraq. Population destroyed. Democrats worry about quagmire in Darfur.
September 2008 - First suicide bombers attack "soft targets" in America. Los Angeles, St. Louis, San Francisco, Chicago, Atlanta, Miami and New York attacked. Democrats blame President Bush. Troops pulled out of Darfur.

Four Questions





Now that I've re-seen the Cinamax Star Wars series (I - VI), cried in my beer over Tuesday, brought the Blog into Blogger Beta, now it is time ask some questions of the new Democrat majority.
1) If Democrats decide to pull out of Iraq, what are their plans to defend against another attack in the United States?
2) If Israel is attacked again, and the Daily Kos decries American support of Israel, will the Democrats rescind any monetary or military support of the only Jewish Democracy in the Middle East?
3) How will the Democrats support the Executive Branch in fighting the War on Terror? Specific examples please -- what tools? and what goals?
4) If re-distribution of tax funds are the way of fixing problems, who gets to decide?
Come on you Democrats. You can continue to gloat if you can answer these questions.

Why no Dem says "Ya'll"

Back during the days of the Democratic Majority (1932-1994), their show of power consisted of the Boston-Austin connection. For instance, during their time of power, their was Speaker Sam Rayburn (D-TX) and Speaker Thomas "Tip" O'Neill (D-MA). However, since 2004 that connection has been frayed and these new Dems are not the party of old.

A) Three Elections - Let us start with 1964. If you look at a map , you can see that LBJ won a majority of the Southern sates (From TX to MD). By 1976, all Carter won was the Southern states. By 1980, Carter lost all the southern states but GA. 1964 was the last high tide for the Democrat party in the south. Remember, after FDR, any President could not get elected without the south. LBJ was an admirer of FDR and worked to continue that connection between Southern Conservatives and Northern Liberals. In 1994, after the Republicans solidified Congressionally what was occurring Presidentially. Ten years later, the Dems didn't fight in the south at all.

B) Military culture and Global War on Terror - Thanks to Kerry's remarks last week, the real view of the Dem party and the military can be seen. Since the Tet offensive in 1968 and Kerry's remarks in 1972, the Democrat party has taken an Anti-war stance that it has never left. What would happen if the Dem's win Tuesday during the GWOT? They will make Israel the new Czechoslovakia to Hamas and Hezbollah. They will allow the terrorists to re-group in Iraq and make it Afghanistan 1995 (who was President then?).

C) Southern Culture - Most Democrats have no problem insulting southerners (even though they need their votes). Redneck culture is just as important as Hip-Hop culture in this big nation. The "solid South" was a bedrock in Democrat politics until 1980, and then has not turned back. The GOP has a bulk of the country as it's starting point. The mid-Atlantic and New England states are losing population. It is also too expensive for most people to live in the Pacific west. Until the Dems learn to speak Southern, they will lose.

Three Debates

First, watch the Hitchens vs. Galloway debate (both parts). Next, read this transcript between Hugh Hewitt and Andrew Sullivan. Finally, I had a debate this week with a friend from work. There is a parallel in styles between Sullivan, Galloway and my friend. I will explain these differences to Mr. Sullivan and Mr. Hewitt here:

Andrew --

Why do I compare you to the anti-Semitic Galloway? Because, like him, you define anyone who disagrees with you as a heretic (Heretic = Christianist). During yesterdays conversation between Mr.Hewitt and yourself, you were offended by his conservatism and religion. By insulting him, how do you gain supporters of your view?

You act like Galloway by striking on the torture issue and promoting over the din of the conversation. The issue was your book, The Conservative Soul, and yet you did not want to discuss your own book.

My feeling is you are Conservative to a liberal like Arianna Huffington or to a Kossite [By the way, where is your indignation for their anti-Semitic?], but not to a Conservative. How do you explain to a Jewish Conservative that by voting Democrat he keeps the Conservatives honest? The current Democrat party wants to make Israel the new Czechoslovakia. The last time the GOP voted out someone is was Bush's father , that gave us Clinton and the coarsening of the culture. Why should any person from the GOP listen to you? You go to all the Georgetown parties being the "Conservative" everyone loves because your issue is not addressed? That, Mr. Sullivan is petty and the beginning of Fascism.

Mr Hewitt --

Mr. Sullivan did ask some questions, you could have answered. Otherwise, you were open-minded (more then Andrew), but if you answered, his issue would have been re-butted. However, it was your show, and you call the shots.

Since you have actually visited The Valley (I have sent Andrew many invitations, the sitemeter showed he never came), you get much more leniency. We are Institutionalists. The core factor of keeping society from falling apart is the institutions. In an earlier post , I mentioned how I felt about Clinton, yet I was civil and respectful. Clinton and I agreed about 30% of the time, but I still believe in the institution of the Presidency. As do you.

At times you seem Pollyannish and don't focus on winning the local battles outside of Orange County, but at least you talk ideas and strategy. You were civil. Sullivan wasen't.

In my debate earlier this week, I won by default because the other person let everyone know his points within the framework of the debate. Galloway and Sullivan could keep from insulting their opponent. Do that and you join the coarsoning of political talk. I hope to hear from both Mr. Sullivan and Mr. Hewitt regarding my take.

How the Dems are NOT fighting the GWOT

Sorry for the delay folks, but Car problems + Computer problems = Delay of Blog posts. If you want to help, hit the Tipjar on the side. Thank you. But to continue the theme of this blog on why the D's will not win this year.....

A) Does anyone remember the 1993 World Trade Center Bombing? Did Clinton go up to New York and comfort the wounded? Did he say he will stop them for good? Once they captured the "Blind sheik", he said on the way to prison that they would attack the WTC again. Did the Clinton's listen?

B) Since war was officially declared on the United States on 9/11 (unofficially by Osama Bin Laden on August 1996), what have the Democratic Party and their allies done to support our defense (and offense)? Let's start with the recent leak of the NIE by a Rep. Harmen [D-CA] staffer? How about the New York Times and LA Times release of the SWIFT program? Blocking the Patriot Act? And some more detail on what else the Democrats have stopped.

B1) Remember the line "Politics stops at the Waters Edge?" Well, when Chavez and the Howard Dean sound exactly alike at their disdain for President Bush, something is wrong with the body politic. People vote for people who remind them of themselves. Say what you will for patriotism, it is a foundation for a majority of the middle who votes. When the GOP impeached Clinton, they lost seats. The D's forgot that lesson of the 90's.

We are at war. It wasn't chosen by President Bush, it was started by Osama. Everytime the President says we need to do something to protect ourselves from another attack, the D's counter with another reason not to support the President. If the Dems want to support National Security, support National Security. Disagree, but come up with a solution. Since neither Pelosi or Reid have come up with a plan to deal with the War on Terror, they will not win a majority in either House. In 1994, the GOP had a plan against a 40 year entrenched view.

I challenge all Democrats and otherwise to prove me wrong.
UPDATE: Three Days later and no challangers. Ergo, the GOP will win on November 7.

2006 is not 1994

Every election, I place bets. I bet someone at work $10 that the GOP will maintain their control of both Houses of Congress. Another person I bet a dinner on the same issue. Why am I so secure? Read on....

A) "The Army of Davids"vs. the Goliath of Dem media -- The concept was introduced by Glenn Reynolds (instapundit). Even though the GOP control the Federal Government, read any newspaper, watch any broadcast network, go to a university class, or even go to the movies. What will you see? The repeating meme of "Democrats are good, Republican bad." It is the response by the Bloggers that have leveled the playing field. Look at Hugh Hewitt and Powerline's view of the MN-5 and MN-6. The news does not define the election, the individual does. And remember, the MSM is the Democrats best friend.

B) Only 10 years of Control, not 40. I am 35 years old. The New Deal was created in 1935, it is 70 years old. The Generation that supported FDR has aged. Ronald Reagan, the Maud'dib of the Republican movement, also followed the New Deal compact. New ideas are being tried. What do the democrats offer?
C) "The War on Terror" -- JFK believed in muscular democracy against the Communist threat; Do any modern Democrats believe in Wilsonian ideals? Or only Realpoliticks, thus supporting tyrants and allowing trouble to fester?And, after September 11, can we really afford to turn away from Wilson?

D) In 1994, there was a Baseball strike. Now the US is a Basketball, Football and NASCAR nation

Can you smell a trend? There would no need for a Media Research Center, if the press had played a more neutral role in 1992. Every GOP candidate and volunteer sees this every election cycle. Who will call the Dems and their buddies in the press bluff?

Let me say first:

1) It's good Mark Foley(R-FL) resigned. Even if he was punk'd, what he did was wrong and should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

2) Speaker Hastert should resign as well. As Speaker, he should know what is going on among his own troops. Had Foley dropped out last year, there would not be any question of his leadership abilities.

However, let me also say that this is a trend in elections. I feel like Andy Rooney, but have you ever noticed that the MSM predicts the GOP will lose and then **poof** October Surprise. Let me show you the trends and the surprise. As Brian Glover says in Alien3, "This is Rumor Control. Here are the facts." I'll start from 1992:

The Left thinking Right

The Euston Manifesto was originally created for European Leftists, to help bring them back from the edge. Now, there is an American version.

What are the odds that the Kossites, Moveon.org, Firedoglake and James Wolcott will also be signatories?

I am betting 2 -1 odds against the core of the "New" Left (after 1968, every 20 years thereafter, a "new" left is created) will not sign. If they follow, there is hope yet for the two party system.

Otherwise, the Dems will die a 40 year death in the Minority because of their BDS.

An encounter with BDS

What is BDS? It is known as Bush Derangement Syndrome [coined by Charles Krauthammer]. Now, to give my background, I did not like President Clinton, I didn't like his wife either during the '90's. However, I shook his hand once and was very civil. Whenever the Presidential Motorcade drove by, I still saluted.

How many Democrats would do the same for President Bush?

The reason I bring this story up is because of an encounter with an acquaintance (who will go by the name of D--) at Canter's two weeks ago.

Sat. 2:00AM, My friends are talking this and that and the subject of California's Governor race comes up. Eventually D-- gets to the Presidential level and says
"You still support him? Why? He hasn't done anything good for the country!"

I give my reasons why (supporting Israel, helping the GOP Caucus, and fighting the terrorists in Iraq rather then in Los Angeles) and he disregards those issues as unimportant. They are MY issues. Important to me, yet unimportant in his eyes.

BDS coarseness the political debate. After all the abuse any activist (or non-activist who votes for President Bush) gets from the Kossites and James Wolcott, why should they push the lever for a Democrat?

Politics is made of people. For all their flaws, I have found very few who think only of themselves. At the Federal level, if you think only of yourself, no one will support you (unless you live in the House of Clinton). Bush has made mistakes. He isn't perfect, but then neither was Clinton. There is a film in Toronto about a "assassination" of Bush. Would it be fair to do a film assassinating Hillary?

This is a level of discourse that must stop by 2008. If not, there might be a second Civil War. Guess which side has all the guns? So, please all you BDSers, please calm down.

In memoriam: Donna Marie Rothenberg (d. 9/11/01)


I am part of remembering the 2,996 who died on 9/11. On 9/11, none of us are Republicans or Democrats, Southerners or Northerners, East Coasters or West Coast. Instead, we are all Americans.

Here is what the New York Times wrote about Donna Marie Rothenberg, who worked for AON Corp in WTC Tower 2, on October 27, 2001:

"As a birthday present a decade ago, a friend placed an inquiry in a New York magazine, seeking a proper suitor for Donna M. Rothenberg, a widow in her early 40's. A gentleman named Edward Schmall responded with a letter carefully crafted to attract her interest. It changed his life.When Ms. Rothenberg eventually moved into Mr. Schmall's apartment in the Flatiron district, she brought more than two cats. She brought wondrous experiences from having lived in Europe, Asia, and South America. She brought a gift for cooking. She brought a zest for life that was reflected in her colorful wardrobe; "She wasn't somebody who wore a lot of black," remembered her cousin, Susan Sullivan.She also brought the reassurance that she would be there for crises small and large, from Mr. Schmall's battle against smoking to his sudden collapse while in California. Ms. Rothenberg, a global affairs executive for the Aon Corporation, was 53 when she died, and the man she met through a personals ad so long ago now struggles to reconcile his blessing and his loss. Newspeak: INGSOC Modern Language: Democrats

Why this response? ABC is editing The Path to 9/11. The Democrats are sending history down the memory hole.

How else are the Democrats like INGSOC? Let me count the ways. They purge their party members (Lieberman), re-create history (the Path to 9/11), and have an inner and outer party that demands obedience. The modern democrats live in a state of permanent war against their own countrymen rather then against the enemy who struck on 9/11. (Iraq, by the way, is a battlefront on the War on Terror -- if we don't fight them there, where would you have the suicide bombers go? Universal Citywalk?) If the Dems get back into power, then America will see a real fascist state emerge (first propagated by Huey Long [D-LA]).

Because this call is about censoring scenes from the ABC movie: The Path to 9/11 . From what I understand, this movie doesn't make either Clinton's or W's administration look good prior to 9/11. And seiously, who among us was really prepared for 9/11? Globalization in the 90's meant the Internet not Insurgents.

Labor Day Break



It's late and summer is closing down. This is not unlike a Jimmy Buffet or Don Henley song -- tourists going home, closing down hangouts, etc. We survived Iran, but there is the 5th anniversary of 9/11 upcoming. And a month and a half later, elections 2006.

The upgrading is almost finished (that why I posted so little this summer) and I have started writing a book. For now, no new posts till the weekend of Labor Day. Enjoy the sunset from Malibu.

Do we need a National Secrets Act?


The person above is Kim Philby. Don't know him? He was the inspiration for John LeCarre's novel, Tinker, Tailor Soldier, Spy. Given all we know about the War on Terror (of which Iraq is a franchise), how do the United States move forward against internal and external enemies?

The ruling ACLU et. al. v. NSA shows again how the Left and the Liberal (the same ones who would purge Sen. Lieberman) would use any means to hinder the intelligence gathering because of their antagonism to President Bush.

Within 3 months, their have been arrests here and over the pond of Muslims who were planning to blow things up. In Florida, they were aiming for the Sears Tower in Chicago; In London, 10 planes over 10 cities.

For all those cheering the ruling (and this means you Ned Lamont), between the release of the SWIFT, the freeing of non-state based prisoners from Guantanamo Bay [Sidebar: Doesn't the Geneva Convention apply to State armies not NGO's?] and the continual complaints about Iraq, how should information be gathered to stop another attack?

The UK has a Official Secrets Act which helped them provide the intelligence to find their bombers. Do we need one here to help us stop the next attack?

A) Cease-fire Agreement between Israel and Hezbollah or The Return of Bibi - Policy - The agreement created by the United Nations (where the infamous "Zionism is Racism" was made policy). Congratulations United Nations! You have now made a Non-Governmental organization [NGO] equal to a state. All Israel wants (and has wanted until Olmert), is recognition and cessation of hostilities. Neither are offered by this agreement. Because Olmert waited to let loose the IDF in Lebanon, more Iranian missiles flew into the only functioning democracy in the Middle East (Iraq is still in Act One of it's democracy). The cease-fire is a farce. Let me be the first Blogger to say: Bring Back Bibi!

B) Mike Wallace's umbrella - Politics - Mike Wallace of CBS' 60 minutes (home of Rathergate) was very complacent with the Iranian President. He would ask about the statements of destroying Israel but would not follow up. 60 Minutes (and the democrats of CT) are the new Neville Chamberlains. God help us if they are elected. [Ed. note: After Labor Day, the reasons will be posted why the Dem's will not win again in 2006 or 2008]

C) Worse then 9/11 - Policy - When the plot was discovered, Burbank Airport shut down until Noon. But given what we know now, why are the Democrats still opposed to any chance at security? The difference between the reality-based community and the moonbats are those who understand that 9/11 was a continuation of attacks upon America, not an aberration. Iraq and Lebanon are better battlegrounds then Universal Citywalk or San Francisco.

I'm stunned. I'm speechless. The Democratic party I grew up with is dead. When I was growing up, the Dem's were pro-Israeli, it had a diverse party (i.e. the "Boston-Austin Connection")[Ed note: This will be discussed later in the Blog], and the men who ran the party had little time for Bullshit.

I grew up a Democrat in New York City, most people born there start as one. Once the last generation of Democrats left public life (Edward Koch, Dan Rostonkowski, John Glenn and, of course, Thomas "Tip" O'Neill), smaller feet walked behind the giants.

Even though I switched in 1992, I still thought of the Dems as a party of adults. Since the Clinton ascendancy, (actually with the death of Lloyd Bentsen) the adults have left the room. Now the Kos kids primaried Senator Joseph Lieberman, the only Jewish Dem up for re-election. The kids are running the show. However, he only lost by 4%. It is his right to run if he so chooses. The hate by the Kos kids are transparent even today.

Until the Dems control their special interests who dictate the party and lessen the Anti-semitism seen in the Huffington Post, Firedoglake, and The Daily Kos, they deserve to remain in the minority. Nor should they win the Presidency in 2008.

Here I am, waiting in LA Superior Court to get picked for a Jury or to get sent home. I am reading Thomas P. M. Barnett's book: The Pentagon's New Map: Blueprint for Action. Alongside that, I am reading A Peace to End All Peace by David Fromkin about the fall of the Ottoman Empire and the Rise of the Modern Middle East. The past and the future. What does it all mean?

Simply this: If the Democrats do not lay claim to supporting the War in Iraq (a subsidary of the Global War on Terror) or allow Leiberman to lose tommorow, then the Republican party will hold onto the Legislative (both Houses) and the Executive for at least another forty years.

A lyric of Lieberman

I feel like Aunty Entity of Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome, after Max reneges and does not kill Blaster.

"What's this?" she said and that's what I'm saying now regarding Senator Lieberman's primary of next Tuesday.

To recap, the New York Times backed Lamont and the Washington Post backed the incumbent. This argument is between Democrats and it's all about how far to defend the Iraq War.

What bothers me, is of all the Democratic Senators to primary, the Daily Kos picked the only Jew who supports Israel and Bush. When I hear a Jew on the radio deriding that "He's too far to the right," Isn't the purpose of the Senate but a place to provide comity from partisanship? Don't believe me? Remember the gang of 14?

If you read the earlier post, Anti-semitism is rising on the left. Let me repeat that: Anti-semitism is rising on the left. If Lieberman falls, here is what the Democrats can expect:

  • The Connecticut Senate goes Republican thus repeating D'amato 1980 or Moynihan '76, both of New York.
  • Bi-partisanship dies in the Senate (The House runs on majority rule).
  • The younger Jews will turn away from the Democrats
  • Pro-Israeli Democrats will turn Republican.
  • And the Democrats will turn into a modern John Birch society -- isolationist and Anti-Semitic.

If you are a Democrat and Jew, know that if the Democrats regain the majority, Hezbollah and Hamas will run rampant in Israel. Do you want that?

A) 2006 Middle East Conflict (Israel v. Hamas and Hezbollah) - policy - This started when three Israeli soldiers were taken and then short and medium range missiles were fired into Northern Israel. If Lebanon does not want to be fired upon, how about not shooting missiles? And if the Palestinians want a state, why not build where they are? Unless they do not want Israel to exist.

The complicity of CNN with Hezbollah and the United Nation's peacekeepers help with the kidnappings. Finally count how many Republicans voted in the House against House Resolution 391. The answer is one against eight Democrats.

The meaning of the Missiles


Read this.

The question we Americans (that includes you, Messrs. Keller and Baquat) should be asking is: What does Kim Jong-Il get for firing his missiles?

The last time North Korea threatened us, we gave money and financial support. Among North Korea's neighbors, who can trust them? China, more interested in being an Economic power, does not want it's borders threatened. Japan, just out of a recession , and pacifisic since WWII, does not want an encrouching power either.

The only known trading power with North Korea is, at this moment, Iran. What North Korea is missing is money. During the early 20th Century, Germany launched a Dreadnaught battleship off the coast of North Africa. Why? To show the European world, the expanding Prussian Empire.

What must we do? This is Poker and Kim Jong-Il laid all his cards on the table. And the dealer hasn't shown the flop yet. Multi-lateral negotations (US, China, South Korea, and Japan) and using the carrot of trade might cause North Korea to back down.

Again, we can only hope.

Nor have We been wanting in attentions to our Brittish brethren. We have warned them from time to time of attempts by their legislature to extend an unwarrantable jurisdiction over us. We have reminded them of the circumstances of our emigration and settlement here. We have appealed to their native justice and magnanimity, and we have conjured them by the ties of our common kindred to disavow these usurpations, which, would inevitably interrupt our connections and correspondence. They too have been deaf to the voice of justice and of consanguinity. We must, therefore, acquiesce in the necessity, which denounces our Separation, and hold them, as we hold the rest of mankind, Enemies in War, in Peace Friends.
We, therefore, the Representatives of the united States of America, in General Congress, Assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the Name, and by Authority of the good People of these Colonies, solemnly publish and declare, That these United Colonies are, and of Right ought to be Free and Independent States; that they are Absolved from all Allegiance to the British Crown, and that all political connection between them and the State of Great Britain, is and ought to be totally dissolved; and that as Free and Independent States, they have full Power to levy War, conclude Peace, contract Alliances, establish Commerce, and to do all other Acts and Things which Independent States may of right do. And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.

Causation

Right after SWIFT is publicized, there is a car bomb that destroys 66. The Washington Post describes the attack here.

A simple idea, if SWIFT was not publicized would this attack have occured? Is there a way to reverse engineer the funding and supplier of these car bombs?

Again, I ask, how many troops do the New York Times and Los Angeles Times have to protect us?

Some July 4th humor

Zarqawi Arrives at Heaven

When Zarqawi died, George Washington met him at the Pearly Gates.Washington slapped him across the face and yelled, "How dare youtry to destroy the nation I helped conceive!?"

Patrick Henry approached, punched him in the nose and shouted,"You wanted to end our liberties - but you failed!"

James Madison followed, kicked him hard in the groin and said,"This is why I allowed our government to provide for the common defense!"

Thomas Jefferson was next. He waited until Zarqawi had stoppedretching after Madison's blow to his nuts. Then he started wailing on Zarqawi with a long cane, snarling, "It was evil men like you who inspired me to write the Declaration of Independence."

The beatings and thrashings continued as George Mason, James Monroe and 66 other early Americans unleashed their anger on the terrorist leader.

Finally, as Zarqawi lay bleeding and in pain, the Angel Gabriel appeared.Zarqawi wept and said, "This is not what you promised me."Gabriel replied, "I told you there would be 72 Virginians waiting for you in Heaven. What did you think I said?

One Laptop found, but theories remain

To follow up on an earlier post.....

The Washington Post writes how the Veterans Affairs laptop was found.

All the information was there, untouched. However, in this modern computer era, things can be copied.

This information coupled with the ING missing Laptop equals a simple cross referencing. Who would they find?

My theory is this, to find one piece of information, hide it among the many, cross reference with financial information(interesting how the US government was trying to do the same thing with the terrorists....) and the person they are looking for is on Rumsfeld's staff.

I hope I'm wrong.
