Do Democrats need an Emmanuel Goldstein and a Two Minute Hate?

First, let's watch a classic from the year, 1984, the beginning of the movie 1984:

For the past month (actually since I returned to Blogging), I have noted that Democrats always need someone to Hate. They act like members from INGSOC if you mention anyone from the List (especially President George W. Bush). Once more, the List:

William F. Buckley;
Vice President Nixon;
Senator Barry Goldwater (remember this ad?);
President Nixon;
Vice President Agnew;
Secretary of State Henry Kissinger;
President Ford;
President Ronald Reagan;
Judge Bork (which became a term in Political Washington -- Borking);
AG Ed Meese;
President George H.W. Bush;
Vice President Quayle;
Lee Atwater;
Justice Thomas;
Speaker Gingrich;
House Leader Delay;
Senate Leader Dodd;
President George W. Bush;
Vice President Cheney;
Secretary of State Rice;
Karl Rove;
AG Ashcroft;
AG Gonzalez;
Rush Limbaugh;
Ann Coulter;
Senator McCain (in 2008, not 2001- 2007 when he was opposing President Bush);
Gov. Sarah Palin;
and House Whip Eric Cantor.

So, I hope you ask, what am I proving? For 8 years, Democrats felt fine wishing for assassination, military coups, etc. on President George W. Bush. How they got there is what intrigues me.

This theory, if proven, means that Ann Coulter is correct, if disproved, she is wrong. In her book Slander, she writes how Democrats always use the "Republicans/Conservatives are stupid or evil," argument. Have Democrats ever accepted Conservatives or Republicans on the field of ideas? No. If they did, she would be out of work.

All this huffing and puffing about the "Torture memos," are written by people who took part of the daily Two Minute Hate against President Bush. I do not believe the Democrats on this issue because they need to Hate. And, funny enough, it is always excused. Why?

I think that Democrats and Republicans are opponents, not enemies. That means, I see Democrats and republicans as Football teams, not infidels. The saying goes: Republicans think that Democrats are wrong, Democrats know Republicans are evil. Don't believe me? Look at what Jeananne Garafalo and Keith Olbermann discussed last month:

In Orwell's 1984, Emmanuel Goldstein was the object of the Two Minute Hate. What I would like to find out are three things:

1) If you Hate our Principles [i.e. Elected officials on the List], how do you expect us to treat Democratic Party Principles nice?
2) If you are a Democrat, have you ever defended anyone on the List while they were in office?
3) Why do Democrats need other Americans to Hate? I would love to have an answer here. Don't thread the needle, tell me why.

Until the next Two Minute Hate, Comrade, we wait for the News from MiniTrue [i.e. Anderson Cooper and Keith Olbermann]!

President Obama's 100 days: Grading on a Curve

There are a lot of views on how President Obama did.

From Don Surber, 100 ways Obama failed.

The UK Independent has a good mix for the 100 days.

And here, at Crooks and Liars, they offer support to President Obama. (I was looking for Leftist Bloggers who wrote 100 things 100 days that President Obama did right and I could not find it. Hmmm....)

Finally, the transcript and President Obama's speech tonight:

So what do I think of President Obama's 100 days? We'll hit three areas, Domestic policy, Foreign Policy and Governing. Ready, here we go:

Domestic Policy

As I mentioned in an earlier post, Appointments is Policy. Even with a majority Democratic Senate, he relies more on Czar's then filling up his cabinet (and sub-cabinet).

President Obama started with the Stimulation Bill (which passed mostly on a party line vote, despite his protestations of Bi-partisanship) and is now working on the Budget. As a former Senator, he knows how Our National Legislature works.

Do I like where he is going? No. The idea that Speaker Pelosi is running President Obama with her vision rather then President Obama's vision implemented by Speaker Pelosi does not bode well for the Country. After all, by tax day, tea parties showed up to oppose the spending. And there are more to follow. If he really was "the best President since Ronald Reagan," then there should be no opposition, President Obama cannot claim that mantle.

President Obama gets a C+.

Foreign Policy

His first phone call was to the Palestinians, he snubbed Prime Minister Netanyahu after he won election, so President Obama already got on my bad side on this.

When President Ortega was ranting against the United States, he did nothing. He sucked up to Hugo Chavez, the anti-Semitic dictator down south. President Obama seemed to fly everywhere and apologize for American Exceptionalism (Earlier, I cross-endorsed Senator Obama because I thought he supported American Exceptionalism)

The Democratic party leaders do not understand not everyone should like us. America should stand for Democracy movements overseas, not for Realism where people suffer under Dictators. This used be a Democratic Party position under President George H. W. Bush, but they have changed since then. A few times. We will see if Machiavelli was right that it is better to be feared then loved.

However, I remember President Bush (whom I still support) did not find his footing until after 9/11. President Bush's policy was the same as the Democrats in 1990-91. The Democratic party is not known for their consistency on Freedom overseas.

President Obama gets an C- leaning towards Incomplete. He has yet to define his Foreign Policy.

Governing

President Bush was not known for patying in washington, DC with the beautiful people. President Obama parties every Wednesday.

He sent Air Force One to New York City for a photo-op while he plays Golf when hearing about the spread of swine flu. As mentioned earlier, he has not fully staffed his Administration.

However, he made sure the Senate is veto-proof for any of his Bills.

When President Obama introduced the "Torture memos," and the idea of Prosecuting the last Administration, I thought he was leading us down the wrong road. However, the basis of President Obama is about having an "An American Enemy of the State," (Ask Rush or Jim Cramer). He wanted to lead the pitchforks against Wall Street, against AIG, against Private citizens, who is next? As the Roman Republic faltered, between Marius, Sulla, and the Triumvirate Caesar, there were Political mobs in the streets. Does President Obama want to start a Civil War? Mobs sometime turn on their host.

Speaker Tip O'Neill (D-MA) wrote that if you know what you believe, you can speak "off the cuff," Does President Obama believe in anything? Because, it is well known his teleprompter goes everywhere. President George W. Bush and President Reagan were known for speaking off the cuff because they knew what they believed. President Bush made the sacrifice of his popularity for what he believed.

Does President Obama know what he believes? Would President Obama sacrifice his Political capitol for a greater good? So far, no to both.

Governing takes time and work. Instead, President Obama goes for the photo-op and the hagiographers in the press and the public. That is the sign of a "Show Horse," Here is what he needs to do to improve his grade:

1) Fill the missing positions in his Administration, why wait?

2) Come out with his core beliefs, what would he sacrifice his popularity for?

3) Stay in the Oval office seven days a week, and take care of America, he serves us, we do not serve him. This is a Republic, not an Empire.

President Obama gets a C+, he needs to work harder at Governing, not partying.

Overall, Obama gets a C.

How do you grade President Obama? What do you look for in a President when judging?

Flipping Like Pancakes

Senator Arlen Specter, formally R-PA is now D-PA.

Does this mean that the GOP should pack it in? No, it just means Senator Spector did not want to face a Primary challenge in 2010.

It also means the Democrats have a 60 (possibly 61) vote majority in the Senate. They own any Legislation from this point forward.

Democrats still do not understand the difference between Political expediency and Standing on Principle. Senator Specter was known as a RINO, he left us, we did not leave him. Compare Spector's treatment to how the Left treated Lieberman.

I'm laughing because Democrats have NO EXCUSE from this point forward to pass and get support for their agenda. Governing is harder then it looks kids.

Until then, so long Senator Specter, do not let the door hit you on the way out.

Pigs and Government: The Swine Flu and Appointments (2001 and 2009)

The news is, Swine Flu is spreading. This is what Swine Flu is:

"Swine Influenza (swine flu) is a respiratory disease of pigs caused by type A influenza virus that regularly causes outbreaks of influenza in pigs. Swine flu viruses cause high levels of illness and low death rates in pigs. Swine influenza viruses may circulate among swine throughout the year, but most outbreaks occur during the late fall and winter months similar to outbreaks in humans. The classical swine flu virus (an influenza type A H1N1 virus) was first isolated from a pig in 1930."

Like clockwork, the Left is looking for it's Emmanuel Goldstein again, rather, then, say, actually doing something about the situation.

Every President has a chance to Govern. The first test (after winning elections) is to staff the Government. According to the 2008 Plum Book, there are approximately 1200 Appointments that President Obama needs to fill.

To paraphrase former Mayor Koch (D-NY), how is President Obama doin'?

Again, Appointments is Policy. And since nothing happens in a vacuum, let's compare it to President Bush in 2001 (who had a shortened transition compared to President Obama)

President Obama has a majority Democrat Senate, so must of those 1200 positions should be filled, right? Especially HHS and Surgeon general during this crisis? After all, Democrats say, they are smarter then the GOP, even smarter the President Bush.

Here is the list of cabinet appointees that are filled. What's missing? HHS.

And the Surgeon general? Not even in Committee. Since Dr. Sanjay Gupta declined the position, no one else has been nominated.

Now, maybe I'm just stupid here, but how is this the Republican's fault? President Obama and his majority Democrat Senate should have no problems. Yet, they cannot fill vacancies in the Governemnt. Hmmm....

How did President Bush do in 2001? With 1200 appointments to fill, how did he compare to the so-called "smarter," President Obama?

Within days of Inauguration, President Bush had his full cabinet. And looking here, President Bush's nominations were confirmed quickly. It helped that he had a Senate that was the same party.

Does Obama need a Democratic Senate too?

Last I checked, President Obama parties every Wednesday and is served Waygu steak. So much for Democratic Party governing.

Constitutional Questions

This one is for the Legal minds among us. (Chessnovice, come on by!).

Under the Bush Administration, "Torture," against a violent Non-Governmental Organization named Al-Queda, a non-signatory to the Geneva Convention on Torture, was considered legal.

Now, with the Obama Administration wishing to Prosecute the Bush Administration, I was pointed back to the Constitution itself.

As someone who reads Patriots by AJ Langguth every July 4th, I understand their worry of a Centralized Government, hence the Articles of Confederation. Earlier in this Blog, I asked Democrats if they wanted to go back to the Articles under President Bush -- after 2009, Democrats love, love, love the Electoral College and Expansion of Powers for a Democratic President. That is, what I believe, situational ethics. The Government is to be respected when Democrats are in power, according to the Democrats in the past 8 years.

The Founding fathers were smarter then any Modern Administration. Why? Look at Article 1, Section 9, Clause 3. Smart men. We should be humble before them

Let's break it down:

We go to Article I. It discusses the role of the Legislative Branch. Like all who are wary of Centralized Power, it helps to emphasize the Branch closest to the American People. The House runs every Two years, Senators run every subsequent 6 years. The people vote for this Branch Every Election. The Founders knew what they were doing.

Now, section 9: Power has limits. The Founders gave many powers to the Legislative (Check section 8) they did not give to the Executive. However, they limited the power of the Legislature as well. The Legislative Branch might be close to the American public, but they worked on keeping it away from Mob Rule. I'm still smiling.

Finally Clause 3: Obama Administration, please read this;

No Bill of Attainder or ex post facto Law shall be passed.

What does that mean?

A) Bill of Attainder: A legislative act that singles out an individual or group for punishment without a trial. (h/t: Tech law Journal) Simply put, if Congress writes a law that everyone with freckles should be jailed, the legislature is wrong.

B) Ex Post Facto: Term used to designate action taken to change the effect given to a set of circumstances. This action relates back to a prior time and places this new effect upon the same set of circumstances existing at that time. (h/t: Electric Law Library). Which means if alcohol is legal Monday and prohibited Friday, you do not go to jail for selling it on Monday through Thursday. The law changed on Friday.

That was my statement, now here are the questions:

1) Is the Obama Administration breaking Article 1, Section 9, clause 3 by going after the Bush Administration for the (supposed) change in "Torture," policy?

2) What was the precedent for Article 1, Section 9, clause 3? I am looking for the Historical story, links are welcome.

3) Do Supranational agreements trump American laws? Why or why not?

4) What, if any, Constitutional laws were broken by the Bush Administration? Was there any legal or historical precedent?

5) Argue why or why not the Obama Administration should continue with the idea of Prosecutions. I'd like to see case references.

Court is in session.

I do not believe the Democrats regarding the Torture Memos: Prove me wrong

Dear President Obama:

You saw fit to open up the door to lead American from a Republic to an Empire, now you are telling us that you want to prosecute the guilty involved with the "Torture memos,"

I call bullshit.

The same people who are indigent over President Bush are the same people who spent 8 years going for President Bush's neck. I detail it here. Read it, you might learn history did not begin on January 20, 2009.

Even before I was born, Democrats have created a version of Orwell's INGSOC, for my lifetime I have seen the Democrats re-create the Two Minute Hate. Let me relay the list of people that Democrats need to hate:

William F. Buckley, President Eisenhower, President Nixon (still kicking the corpse), Henry Kissinger, President Ford, President Reagan, Judge Bork (which became a political term), President George H.W. Bush, Vice President Dan Quayle, Lee Atwater, Justice Thomas, Speaker Gingrich, House Leader Delay, Senate Leader Dodd, President Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney, Karl Rove, Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, and House Whip Eric Cantor.

Try typing on a Left wing Blog or go on MSNBC saying you support any of those people, and see a re-creation of the Two Minute Hate.

President Obama, you claimed the mantle of "Bi-partisanship," as a way of getting things done. If you need help with that, I have a few posts that can lead you.

Here's another reason why I called Bullshit on your exercise. During the period of time it was in use, Democratic members (and leaders) were informed and signed off on it, no matter their claim of ignorance today.

If you were serious about "stopping torture," the Democrats involved would be publicly chastised. They aren't. You aren't

All this "torture memo," issue is about is hanging President Bush. President Bush is your Emmanuel Goldstein. If he isn't, prove me wrong. I have not seen anyone upset about these torture memos attack Speaker Pelosi. When they start, then I will believe.

All I believe right now, is that you are fomenting a Civil war if you go forward with only Republicans on the pike. Prove me wrong.

Mr. President, if you are serious about Bi-partisanship, speak up. NOW IS THE TIME.

Sincerely,

JSF,
Proprietor of the Valley of the Shadow Blog

Update: PS: I found this comment on Don Surber's site. Maybe your party should re-read Article 1, section 9 of the Constitution.

Acting Bi-Partisan

I am a partisan; I don't hide it or deny it. In fact, I am moving back to Washington, DC to help in the elections of 2010 and 2012. If the Republicans win, it's good for me. However, I also used to be a Liberal Democrat, that's why I don't hate people on the Left (the way I described in this post, that people on the Left HATE the Right).

And I can do a few tricks, no one on the Left can do. For instance, during Presidential Election seasons, I can cite the reasons why people vote for both, the Republican and Democratic candidates. No Democrat can return the favor. By the way, before the Plague year hit, I endorsed folks from both parties. Again, no Liberal can do that.

I also promote my friends who are Democrats and Liberals.

First, my friend Jason was there during the Plague year. His political Blog, Washington Interns Gone Bad, is good. But now he is focused on his new Blog: Obama Action Comics! It is a mixture of a Blaxploitation movie (Secretary George Clinton) and Kevin Smith (just look at his panels). When I go to Obama Action Comics! I put my partisanship aside and laugh. If anything, it is worth a look.

Second, Client #9 is going to the media for "Rehabilitation," I stand up and say "NO," Client #9 went after my friends who were Democrats. I believe Hevesi and Chatier should be rehabilitated, not Client #9. Why did client #9 go after my friends? They stood in his way, politically.

What Client #9 did to my friends is what Liberals want to do to Republicans.

Here are some posts I wrote about Bi-partisanship (1, 2, and 3) The best way to bring about Bi-partisanship (I'm talking to YOU President Obama) is to follow these steps:

1) Do not criminalize Policy differences. Disagree, but if you send the State after any of our guys, we will defend and ATTACK.. There are trees around the Capitol that we could put a rope on if Pelosi and Reid go after Bush. I do not step back from this, but you on the Left should.

2) Stop with the Emmanuel Goldstein Two Minute Hate routine. You folks on the Left put the Hate on William F. Buckley when he was alive and hosting Firing Line. Attack policies, not personalities. It requires you guys on the Left to grow up, but I'm sure you can.

3) Before you get any support of President Obama's policies from me, show me how you folks on the Left supported President Bush between 2003 - 2007. If not, then sorry, you have no standing.

And to conclude, on 1/20/10 I will do a post about 3 policies that I support of President Obama's. Why? Because no on the Left could ever do the same for any Republican president while they are in office. If someone did, please show me the link.

Finally, my question: What have you done for Bi-partisanship today?

Earth Day 2009

Yes, this a clip post but, let's start with a great YouTube, George Carlin:

And finally, my arguments from last year. My view has not changed. If Global warming is real, people would be selling their Houses in Malibu and the Upper East and West Side of Manhattan for pennies -- but it's not happening. If the people who promote "Global warming," do not act on it, why should we?

Here we go:

Jason wrote a post asking, "Why is the Right opposed to Global warming/Climate Change/whatever they call it tomorrow?"

Here are a few reasons why:

1) The same people who yell "Climate Change/Global warming" also yelled (during my lifetime), "Overpopulation!" (which begat China's One Child Policy), yelled "Global Cooling!" (now defunct due to Global warming), "Recycle!" (now made moot by the idea of Plastic or paper bags) and "Acid rain!" (Last time I saw Acid rain was in a William Gibson short story, and that was the first time as well). If your going to say "The Sky is falling!" every decade, choose an Apocalyptic scenario and stick with it. When the Apocalypse does not happen (as it did with all of the above), it makes it hard to believe in it the next time.

2) Liberals who want us to believe in their cause, don't make the effort to support Conservative Causes. The oldest law on the Political books -- I help you, you help me. I bet if the Democrats had stayed their tongue on Iraq, Conservatives would have joined the Global warming cause. No support for our Windmills, why should we fight for yours?

3) Forgetting the history of Galileo. During Galileo's time, the establishment (i.e. the Church) believed in Copernican theory and called everyone who didn't follow the Theory was called "Heretic" or burned at the Stake. Look at this Blog Post by Dr. Heidi Cullen of the Weather Channel. The New establishment (i.e. Hollywood, the Media, Academia) act as though Copernicus' views are still relevant.Mankind has only been Industrially active for 200 years. Did the dinosaurs go extinct because they built factories? Those debating the issue of Global warming are playing the role of Galileo, not the Global warming supporters.

4) We are between Ice Ages. The Earth has frozen more then it has melted. And to believe that Global warming will destroy humanity means that you don't believe in Evolution. Man has adapted to Cold and Heat. If you believe in Global warming, do you believe that Man cannot evolve?

And remember, Happy Earth day! (created by a murderer who ran to France).

Pratfalls of being a Writer/Researcher

I love writing the Valley. I enjoy researching issues old and new.

But every writer suffers from Writer's Block (not like the last time though) -- sometimes the words just don't come forth.

When I find an issue to write about, I write and research the issue at that moment. I write "on the fly,"

Sorry for showing you how things work behind the curtain, but I'll get better.

My question is, if you write a Blog, what is your style?

Have at it.

December 16, 1773 and April 15, 2009

My birthday was the spark for me to study History. I've studied Revolutions, Rebellions and the Governments they leave behind (that's why my last post is a warning to the Democrats -- The Roman Empire began with thoughts like yours).
When is my birthday? December 16, 1970. (Oh, if you want to get me a present, visit my Wishlist, hint, hint)
What happened on December 16?

but the most important thing that happened on my Birthday occured in...

December 16, 1773: The Boston Tea Party.

Like Camus' Rebels, it was the concept of standing up to the State (at the time, the King of England. George III), and saying, "NO!" The taxes were too high, business started to fail, and trading could not be done in Colonial Boston.

By throwing the Tea overboard, the colonists were striking a blow for less taxation among their brethren. Here is what participant, George Hewes wrote of the Boston Tea Party:

The tea destroyed was contained in three ships, lying near
each other at what was called at that time Griffin's wharf, and were surrounded
by armed ships of war, the commanders of which had publicly declared that if the
rebels, as they were pleased to style the Bostonians, should not withdraw their
opposition to the landing of the tea before a certain day, the 17th day of
December, 1773, they should on that day force it on shore, under the cover of
their cannon's mouth.

On the day preceding the seventeenth, there was a meeting of
the citizens of the county of Suffolk, convened at one of the churches in
Boston, for the purpose of consulting on what measures might be considered
expedient to prevent the landing of the tea, or secure the people from the
collection of the duty. At that meeting a committee was appointed to wait on
Governor Hutchinson, and request him to inform them whether he would take any
measures to satisfy the people on the object of the meeting.

"To the first application of this committee, the Governor
told them he would give them a definite answer by five o'clock in the afternoon.
At the hour appointed, the committee again repaired to the Governor's house, and
on inquiry found he had gone to his country seat at Milton, a distance of about
six miles. When the committee returned and informed the meeting of the absence
of the Governor, there was a confused murmur among the members, and the meeting
was immediately dissolved, many of them crying out, "Let every man do his duty,
and be true to his country"; and there was a general huzza for Griffin's wharf.

"It was now evening, and I immediately dressed myself in the
costume of an Indian, equipped with a small hatchet, which I and my associates
denominated the tomahawk, with which, and a club, after having painted my face
and hands with coal dust in the shop of a blacksmith, I repaired to Griffin's
wharf, where the ships lay that contained the tea. When I first appeared in the
street after being thus disguised, I fell in with many who were dressed,
equipped and painted as I was, and who fell in with me and marched in order to
the place of our destination.

When we arrived at the wharf, there were three
of our number who assumed an authority to direct our operations, to which we
readily submitted. They divided us into three parties, for the purpose of
boarding the three ships which contained the tea at the same time. The name of
him who commanded the division to which I was assigned was Leonard Pitt. The
names of the other commanders I never knew.

"We were immediately ordered by the respective commanders to
board all the ships at the same time, which we promptly obeyed. The commander of
the division to which I belonged, as soon as we were on board the ship appointed
me boatswain, and ordered me to go to the captain and demand of him the keys to
the hatches and a dozen candles. I made the demand accordingly, and the captain
promptly replied, and delivered the articles; but requested me at the same time
to do no damage to the ship or rigging.

"We then were ordered by our commander to open the hatches
and take out all the chests of tea and throw them overboard, and we immediately
proceeded to execute his orders, first cutting and splitting the chests with our
tomahawks, so as thoroughly to expose them to the effects of the water.

"In about three hours from the time we went on board, we had
thus broken and thrown overboard every tea chest to be found in the ship, while
those in the other ships were disposing of the tea in the same way, at the same
time. We were surrounded bv British armed ships, but no attempt was made to
resist us.

"We then quietly retired to our several places of residence,
without having any conversation with each other, or taking any measures to
discover who were our associates; nor do I recollect of our having had the
knowledge of the name of a single individual concerned in that affair, except
that of Leonard Pitt, the commander of my division, whom I have mentioned. There
appeared to be an understanding that each individual should volunteer his
services, keep his own secret, and risk the consequence for himself. No disorder
took place during that transaction, and it was observed at that time that the
stillest night ensued that Boston had enjoyed for many months.

"During the time we were throwing the tea overboard, there
were several attempts made by some of the citizens of Boston and its vicinity to
carry off small quantities of it for their family use. To effect that object,
they would watch their opportunity to snatch up a handful from the deck, where
it became plentifully scattered, and put it into their pockets.

"One Captain O'Connor, whom I well knew, came on board for
that purpose, and when he supposed he was not noticed, filled his pockets, and
also the lining of his coat. But I had detected him and gave information to the
captain of what he was doing. We were ordered to take him into custody, and just
as he was stepping from the vessel, I seized him by the skirt of his coat, and
in attempting to pull him back, I tore it off; but, springing forward, by a
rapid effort he made his escape. He had, however, to run a gauntlet through the
crowd upon the wharf nine each one, as he passed, giving him a kick or a stroke.

"Another attempt was made to save a little tea from the
ruins of the cargo by a tall, aged man who wore a large cocked hat and white
wig, which was fashionable at that time. He had sleightly slipped a little into
his pocket, but being detected, they seized him and, taking his hat and wig from
his head, threw them, together with the tea, of which they had emptied his
pockets, into the water. In consideration of his advanced age, he was permitted
to escape, with now and then a slight kick.

"The next morning, after we had cleared the ships of the
tea, it was discovered that very considerable quantities of it were floating
upon the surface of the water; and to prevent the possibility of any of its
being saved for use, a number of small boats were manned by sailors and
citizens, who rowed them into those parts of the harbor wherever the tea was
visible, and by beating it with oars and paddles so thoroughly drenched it as to
render its entire destruction inevitable."

And now today, April 15, 2009, Tax Day across America is filled with Tea Parties. It is filled with Republicans, Independents and Democrats who are standing up to the State and saying, "NO!" After 8 years of hearing "Dissent is Patriotic," The Inner Party of the Democrats (Think INGSOC) are complaining and mocking dissent.

Where will I be tonight? I will be at the Van Nuys Tea party taking part in my first protest since 1990 - 1991 (As a Democrat, I protested against President George H.W. Bush for not using the military to bring Democracy to the Middle East, my how times change). I will be carrying a sign that says:

No Taxation without Representation

And it will have the picture above. Hope to see you in Van Nuys!

This way lies Romulus Augustulus; That way lies the Republic -- What will Democrats choose?

On the eve of Tax Day (and the protests by the Tea Partiers, of which I will be one), Department of Homeland Security released a paranoiac report about one half the political population. To go along with squelching dissent, Andrew Sullivan has been hyping "the war against President Obama,"; In his world, Conservatives and Republicans should not oppose President Obama. Period.

That was the appetizer of the post. Now let's go onto the entree:

Former President George W. Bush's staff is about to be prosecuted by Judge Garzon, a lawyer from Spain. That means only one thing:

IT'S THE SPANISH INQUISITION!!!!!

(This is a serious post -- we need as much laughs as we can get.)

Now, on to the main course:

We on the Right have a saying: Republicans think Democrats are wrong, Democrats know Republicans are Evil.

It seems Democrats cannot survive without an American Enemy of the State. Don't believe me? Let me list:

Hoover, Nixon (still kicking the corpse), Reagan, Bush I, Justice Thomas, Gingrich, Delay, Bush II, Rush, and now House Whip Eric Cantor. The Democrats look on all these people as one person: Emmanuel Goldstein. I have yet to be proven wrong here.

N0w the Democrat's goal is to prosecute President Bush and his Administration over the Iraq war and everything the Bush Administration thought was needed to protect America from another attack.

In Ancient Roman History, this was done. Pompey was leading the Senate to expel his rival Caesar from power. Through the Legislative maze (with help from Cato), Caesar was declared Enemy of the State.

To rebut the challenge, he crossed the Rubicon. He brought his troops into Rome. Caesar defeated Pompey with help from Cleopatra. Caesar's senate declared him dictator. A rebellion began and he was killed on the Ides of march. Within a Century, the Republic became an Empire until 476 AD, when young Romulus Augustulus was overthrown by the German Goth King Odoacer.

If the Democrats proceed with either the Truth Commission or the Spanish Inquisition, have they given thought to what the rank and file Conservatives and Republicans will do?

Here is the question I have. Say the Democrats actually succeed with the Truth Commission (and then go straight to prosecution) or sending the Bush Administration to the heart of the Spanish Inquisition, what then? What will the Conservatives and Republicans do?

My suggestion for my Republican and Conservative friends: If the Democrats go forward with either concept, find our friends in the Armed Forces, our second Amendment friends and cross the Potomac to the Capitol and ask for Speaker Pelosi and Majority Leader Reid's head. if they are bringing back the Empire with President Bush's neck, then let their blood be part of the show.

The Story of Icarus and the Democrats

Let's start with a quote by a man who actually lived by his beliefs:

First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.

That was said Mohandas K. Gandhi, the man who fought for freedom against the British Empire and won. It seems our friends to the Left do not believe that "Dissent is patriotic,"

Read with me the story of Icarus:
-------------------------------------
Bk VIII:183-235 Daedalus and Icarus

Meanwhile Daedalus, hating Crete, and his long exile, and filled with a desire to stand on his native soil, was imprisoned by the waves. ‘He may thwart our escape by land or sea’ he said ‘but the sky is surely open to us: we will go that way: Minos rules everything but he does not rule the heavens’. So saying he applied his thought to new invention and altered the natural order of things. He laid down lines of feathers, beginning with the smallest, following the shorter with longer ones, so that you might think they had grown like that, on a slant. In that way, long ago, the rustic pan-pipes were graduated, with lengthening reeds. Then he fastened them together with thread at the middle, and bees’-wax at the base, and, when he had arranged them, he flexed each one into a gentle curve, so that they imitated real bird’s wings. His son, Icarus, stood next to him, and, not realising that he was handling things that would endanger him, caught laughingly at the down that blew in the passing breeze, and softened the yellow bees’-wax with his thumb, and, in his play, hindered his father’s marvellous work.

When he had put the last touches to what he had begun, the artificer balanced his own body between the two wings and hovered in the moving air. He instructed the boy as well, saying ‘Let me warn you, Icarus, to take the middle way, in case the moisture weighs down your wings, if you fly too low, or if you go too high, the sun scorches them. Travel between the extremes. And I order you not to aim towards Bootes, the Herdsman, or Helice, the Great Bear, or towards the drawn sword of Orion: take the course I show you!’ At the same time as he laid down the rules of flight, he fitted the newly created wings on the boy’s shoulders. While he worked and issued his warnings the ageing man’s cheeks were wet with tears: the father’s hands trembled.

He gave a never to be repeated kiss to his son, and lifting upwards on his wings, flew ahead, anxious for his companion, like a bird, leading her fledglings out of a nest above, into the empty air. He urged the boy to follow, and showed him the dangerous art of flying, moving his own wings, and then looking back at his son. Some angler catching fish with a quivering rod, or a shepherd leaning on his crook, or a ploughman resting on the handles of his plough, saw them, perhaps, and stood there amazed, believing them to be gods able to travel the sky.

And now Samos, sacred to Juno, lay ahead to the left (Delos and Paros were behind them), Lebinthos, and Calymne, rich in honey, to the right, when the boy began to delight in his daring flight, and abandoning his guide, drawn by desire for the heavens, soared higher. His nearness to the devouring sun softened the fragrant wax that held the wings: and the wax melted: he flailed with bare arms, but losing his oar-like wings, could not ride the air. Even as his mouth was crying his father’s name, it vanished into the dark blue sea, the Icarian Sea, called after him. The unhappy father, now no longer a father, shouted ‘Icarus, Icarus where are you? Which way should I be looking, to see you?’ ‘Icarus’ he called again. Then he caught sight of the feathers on the waves, and cursed his inventions. He laid the body to rest, in a tomb, and the island was named Icaria after his buried child.
--------------------------------------------

For now, the Democrats and President Obama are doing well poll-wise. Does anyone remember the lyrics from Bob Dylan's, Times they are a changing (used to great effect in Watchman)?

I read history and the Democrats always believe whenever a democratic president is elected it becomes, Year Zero. When Rick Santelli talked of "Tea parties," it was ignored (see quote above).

Now that the "Tea parties," have gone nationwide, the people supporting them are being mocked (again, see quote above).

Don't believe me? Look at how Jane Hamsher, representative of the Democratic Party Establishment talks of the "tea parties,"

Now read Paul Krugman, establishment Op-ed writer of the New York Times (whose stock drops daily), proves he is good with mocking. I thought speaking Truth to Power means speaking against whomever is in power Mr Krugman. Mr. Krugman also forgets the quote.

William Jacobson of Legal Insurrection describes, in detail, how the Left does not believe in anyone dissenting against them. Let's re-read Gandhi's quote again:

First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win

Now, the Democrats since Election 2006 does not think their shit stinks. At no time, has Speaker Pelosi or Majority Leader Reid ever been humble in their ideas or with the American people.

President Obama has risen due to good campaigning. His Governing is his wings, and he is taking the Democrats in Congress for that flight. It is already three months into a Democratic President's term with a Democratic Congress. They have gone through half of Gandhi's quote and forgotten about that the Sun can melt the wings of Pride.

I wait for Hubris.

A Week of Tales....

This week, I plan on writing a few Blog posts based on other stories.

The first two are the Story of Icarus and, ironically enough, Southland Tales.

What and why?

Kudos to the US Navy!

During the past week, there has been a story of a hostage crisis off the Gulf of Aden, near Somalia and the Persian Gulf. The Navy rescued the captain of a ship.

There is a correlation between President Obama's foreign policy and this hostage crisis but I will tackle it after the 100 days are over (so keep reading the Valley).

For now, many congratulations of the Navy are in order.

But remember the mantra of the last 8 years: I support the troops but not their Commander.

Kudos to all the men and women who are in our Naval forces.

During this time of Exodus and Easter: Donate and play a Game

Passover is my favorite Jewish Holiday.

Why?

Families come together and talk of freedom from bondage. We relate the story of Exodus around the table. How cool is it that the one Bible story Hollywood got right is with Charles Heston as Moses? For my Bar Mitzvah at the Western wall, I was taught to read the first three chapters of Exodus.

During the Passover ceremony, everyone around the table reads the Haggadah and talks of how, generations after Joseph died, Moses and his brother Aaron (with, of course, assistance from G-d) led the Jewish people home.

Easter is a nice holiday too. On the religous side, the story is the death and re-birth of the Jewish Rabbi, Jesus. On the secular side, you got bunnies. A win-win is the way I see it.

So, in the spirit of Freedom and re-birth, let me introduce you to a non-profit helping people all over the world follow the Jews to freedom: It is called Freedom House. This non-profit was created during World War II by Eleanor Roosevelt as a way helping free the sovereign peoples trapped behind the Nazi dictatorship. And then again during the Cold War. And today, with the dicatators and failed states around the world.

Please donate here.

As this is a holiday weekend, here is game to play. I like reading books and stories that use Alternate History. What if A changes, then what happens to B? As a history major, I like playing those games. Even my hero, Winston Churchill, tried it! Ready for the rules?

The challenge is this: Free Tibet.

However, there are limitations. You cannot follow the route the President Bush took, which was first listening to the last Administration and their allies about Saddam, the going to Congress with said information and asking for a vote, then heading to the United Nations to get a vote, offer a chance for the President Saddam Hussain and his sons to leave Iraq, and goes back to the UN for a second vote for our ally, the United Kingdom. Or you can follow it all at this link.

Second, the game starts in August 2009.

Third, you must put China's reactions to any move you make.

How would you Free Tibet?

The Blood Libel against Republicans

It seems every Democratic Administration, a shooting occurs and the usual suspects blame the usual suspects.

I tried to comment on The Washington Monthlies Blog, but, like any representative of the "Free Speech" party, censored it. Now, for any Liberal to tell us Conservatives to "calm down," is not only hypocritical, but as one who knows, insane.

I offer a simple trade:

You want we in the Conservative and GOP circles to calm down? Put a leash on these Nazguls: Thom Hartmann for calling every Republican and Conservative a Nazi (I'm a Jew, so I'm offended) Keith Olbermann, the human fascist, (when has he ever debated his positions with anyone from the Right? Answer: Never -- again the "Free speech" party) to show some steel and attack the corruption in the Democratic party, President Bush hasn't been President since January 20; and finally, when the eff are you folks on the Left going to ex-communicate Andrew Sullivan for attacking Governor Palin's family?

Last I checked, there was a shooting in Oakland by an Obama supporter, and also, Mumia Abu-Jamal, a cop killer, continues to work for Pacifica radio. There is not one Republican or Conservative who works for Pacifica, in fact they endorsed Obama. Who supports cops again?

As a Jew, I understand the concept of "Blood Libel," It was used as a way to have Pograms against Jewish neighborhoods. Now, the Democrats use the same tactics. Why?

They want Republicans censored -- they don't care with what we say, only they want to shut us up.Look at how Amanda Terkel is handling her issue. No "meet in the middle" instead, she and her cohorts want to shut off Bill O'Reilly.

Party of "Free Speech" huh?

And what did I write to the washington Monthly? I just linked what I said here. And said to all the Liberals commenting there: We learned from YOU.

Discuss the Journal of the Plague Year

Comments are back on. Read it and tell me your opinion.

I won't really jump in unless you have questions.

Here is the whole:

Why?

Journal of the Plague year: 5, Lessons Learned

Grant,

What did I learn from this plague year?

1) For every Democratic supporter, activist, or elected official who talks of supporting "The Little Guy," they don't follow their own Rhetoric. It was the GOP people who actually care about people. Or simply this: Democrats do not believe their own Rhetoric. I was God's Experiment, and the Liberals performed an Epic fail (as we say here on the Blogosphere).

2) It was speaking to a Southern woman and a supposed "racist" Senator who told me treat all people nice. My ex-girlfriend, Toni, an African-American, heard what Your Avatar did and was embarrassed that she allowed Senator Thurmond to be the "Good guy" in this scenario. The lesson here: Don't listen to the Stereotypes. You lose the chance for expanding your mind if you do.

3) I learned about my disease and how to control it. I learned how to get in touch with my emotions. I learned that even with my disease, I am still determined to work in a Republican White House Chief of Staff's office and become successful. I will write a book after I get there and allow others who have what I have, believe in themselves too. Lesson: Knowing how to control the disease means, I will move upward.

4) I learned that with Democrats not believing their own rhetoric, and for the past 8 years, allowing loose talk about President Bush, I became angry. I used to be the guy in the room, saying, we need not attack that far. After the Plague Year, I am a Conservative who thinks the Democrats should pay for their attacks on Bush, Palin, et. al. Lesson learned: Don't give precedent that you don't want people from the other side to use.

Did you learn anything? I hope you keep your employees safe from the Economy and Your Avatar. Ask some folks who were fired from the Third Floor how they were treated by her. One day, I would like to learn your side of the story.

For now, I am planning on moving back to Washington, DC and take what I learned during the Plague Year to help the public in general. You guess the Lesson.

Journal of the Plague Year: 4, What happened during

Grant,

I have always believed in Commerce and trade was a way to keep civilization afloat (one of the reasons why I switched from D to R). In July, I basically told the Media, "I was not going to look for a job in the Industry," Was I complimented or respected? No. One of Your Avatar's Minions disrespected the first half of the comments and ignored what I offered. I offered, no return of the offer?

I spiraled and calls were made.

I stopped writing (during a Presidential campaign, no less) and I continued to fall. Eventually, I landed at Mission Community Hospital and they got me back on track. Suicide ideas? Gone.

During this time, where were the Liberal Hollywood people who cared about "The Little Guy?" Except for my sister who works in the Industry, I didn't see anyone from your contribution circles.

I saw Doctors, doctors and more doctors. The Legal side moved on, I worked on getting myself healthier. By this March, a report was issued and the Legal issue ended. We all finally found a way to move on.

Even though I am a Political geek (I understand the intricacies of the Legislative Process), I read stuff outside my own realm of experience. For a year, i could not read, either my fiction books or my non-fiction. My non-fiction book about Winston Churchill and the overthrow of Chamberlain. That book I finished in February.

For a year, I could not read my fiction book by Charles Stross. His book discussed the Post-human and the Technological Singularity era. Try grasping your mind around that. I finished that book in March. After the legal side finished, I was ready to read, write and Blog again.

Before we go the lessons learned, please read what I wrote here. You can see the progression of the disease during my time at your company. Don't forget to click the links.

Also during this year, one of my Uncle's died. I looked up to him.

The Conclusion, Lessons learned, next.

Journal of the Plague year: 3, God's Experiment

Grant,

Back in 1999, I worked for a nonprofit run by Republicans and Conservatives. In 2008, I worked for Hollywood Liberals (of which you are one). The same disease creeped in at both places, who followed their Rhetoric?

Jumping around the Net, anyone can find who has donated to any major candidate. Thanks o the Huffington Post (your home address is on there too, take it up with Arianna), I saw you donated to the Democrats since 1992; Then President and Senator Clinton; and Senator and President Obama. No one can ever call you a Moderate Democrat.

But as I discuss on these posts many a time, I used to be a Liberal Democrat. I knew the rhetoric. When I worked for the Nonprofit, it turns out these Republicans and Conservatives had a large heart to do what they do. As history repeated itself, did Liberals?

I like to say this was G-d's Experiment because to study any policy, you have to test it. I was the same person (in a way) being troubled by the same problem, yet subject to work with people whose Political philosophies were different.

After March (after I was at the Leadership Institute class at Pepperdine), I found a good doctor to help me get on track while I was working for your company. After the election of 2006, I was willing to give what I knew to help your company, DC was able to be on hold for a while. I gave my loyalty, was it returned?

After New Line fell, your company was letting people go left and right. When I was let go by Your Avatar, I thought, we all move on. She did not. She shut down my Unemployment. My disease (in check until the Unemployment was negated) came roaring back with all the negatives one has with Bipolar I. Suicide became an option.

My insurance was cut that day which meant, what I was dealing became that much harder. With Your Avatar becoming your understudy, I understood. I was the Little Guy, and You did not care about the Little guy.

When I interned on Capitol Hill, I met two of my mentors Karv and Todd. Karv was the boss in the Congressman's office I worked for. He was tough and a hard-ass. The thing I don't mind about working for hard-asses is that if you do right, it is acknowledged, and if you do wrong it is noted. He was someone who handled real power and he always treated his staff like part of his family. That included the interns.

In New York, when I worked for Republicans, I was treated as an individual. When my problem opened up, they made sure I got healthy and made sure that the Doctor's orders in New York were followed. They stayed in touch with my parents to make sure the transition went fine.

Now I worked for Your Avatar. And I worked for Liberals. Did you guys even care? No. Your Avatar was hard-ass but had no concern for your staff. if you were not her favorite, she did not care. Ask anyone on the Third Floor how they are treated or better yet, ask those she fired from the Third Floor. She never worked among actual power, and she was pettier then those who did. She represented you.

I tried (and failed) to check into Cedars-Sinai (again, blame Your Avatar). My family became worried about my health and calls were made all around. That's how it jumped from just being a Medical issue into a Legal one.

Things were not so "Fair to Middling,"

Journal of the Plague year: 2, Where I worked

Grant,

I came to work at your company as a Driver. From my simple knowledge of the Industry, I knew the 10%ers (Or as they are known as CAA, ICM, et. al) always started at the bottom of the companies from the mail room and moved up. When I started, your Avatar in Human Resources (Hereinafter known as "Your Avatar"), never knocked my College education or ability to think around corners.

But every time I engaged Your Avatar about the process of "Moving up," It seemed there was no plan or, as I figured out later, there was no plan for me. I mentioned in this post, the people who treated me well at your company. Shouldn't Your Avatar or her Minions been among those cited?

My disease was under control until the gap when there were no extra drivers between November-December 2007. As my mind flailed (and I was listening to Your Avatar and one of her Minions at the Front Desk say I need not go to a Therapist, even though she was HR and he had no Medical experience), my inner support fell. Internal controls buckled. What filled in it's place was a movie (It is the Industry, after all): Southland Tales. By the way, those six weeks ended on my Birthday -- Deecember 16. No attaboys. Nothing special.

When I take a job, even if it is not in my field, I hope to be able to improve myself, either by funds brought in or ability to get closer to my goals. Your company had a DC office. I inquired and was never given any headway into following up. I didn't have enough money or time or ability (due to my father's death) to move up or out of my current situation. And I wasn't supported by Your Avatar (who was also my supervisor).

Where were you during this time? Everytime I brought up something I thought that could help the business, I was told you were feeling "Fair to Middling," And to hell with my help.

When I had troubles with deliveries, if I asked for help, Your Avatar or her Minions never provided it. And I kept falling until March.

More to come.

Journal of the Plague Year: 1, Who I was

Grant,

My name is Joseph Fein and I have Bi-Polar depression. It was diagnosed in 1999 during a very stressful time in my life. The doctors in New York told me to come out to Los Angeles to be under the auspices of my parents. In 2008, my disease returned and I had to re-learn how to handle it.

Why am I opening up with this? Because as I go back into the Political realm, I know if someone attacks me using my Bi-Polar depression, they have run out of arguments. As people attack Rush Limbaugh for his weight and his problems, it does not stand as a debate tactic, it stands as a lack of debate points. Please remember that when you circulate among your peers in Hollywood when discussing Rush or anyone else whose politics you do not agree with.

From the time I moved out to Los Angeles until I worked at your company, I learned about my Meds, and how to handle the disease. In late 2002, I was planning a move back to DC. Unfortunately, on January 3, 2003, my father died.

During that time, I helped (with my sister) to get my Mom on track. I felt no need of hospitalization then. I worked, I struggled, but I survived. At some point, I started this Blog to help relay my views and opinions.

And then I came to work at your company.

Journal of the Plague Year: Prologue

Grant,

To understand something of the framework, I want to write a couple of Anecdotes, more to be revealed as you read further.

Anecdote 1) In the mid-Nineties, I worked as a volunteer at the Republican House-Senate Dinners. Dressed up in my semi-Tuxedo (I owned a cummerbund and a Black Tie, the rest was a Black Suit), I strode the floor during the appetizer and main course in the Old Washington Convention Center.

By Dessert, I was invited to sit down by a Lady who had a seat open. Her seat was in the front, sitting with a Senator. In the time I sat there I was asked about my goals, and explained a bit about my background. To sit at the table I was at cost $500,000, so I was humbled to be the center of attention.

When I got to the end of my spiel, the Lady (whose name is lost in time) told me "Watch how you treat people. The person at the lowest point one day may be a leader of men the next," The Senator agreed with her and told me to remember those words.

His name? Senator Strom Thurmond. I couldn't find work in his office because my accent was different then his constituents, but I also learned that night Geography is Everything in politics.

Anecdote 2) One of my friends out here worked at a Corporate Real Estate Office. Her boss and her rarely saw eye to eye, but one Christmas, he gave her a subscription to Net Flix. the next year, the market bottomed out. She was let go, given Unemployment. And after she was gone, he renewed her Net Flix.

She wants to be an actress and her boss was a Republican. By giving her the Net Flix, he was helping her get to her goals.

So much for Stereotypes.

Why "The Journal of the Plague Year"?

If you noticed, I shut down the comments for the next series of posts.

These are personal, with a Political Lesson at the end. I need to write this for people to understand what happened over from last Summer until March 15, 2009. Those months changed me as a person.

First, some paperwork:

Norm, pass these posts along to the person they are written to and to DL. Tell the person they are written to one thing: Click Links for Further Understanding.

After you pass it along, I will re-link to your Blog.

These are addressed to Grant Nemirow. It is my hope he reads and understands these posts.

Now why "The Journal of the plague Year? It best describes what happened to me. Daniel Defoe wrote a fictionalized account of the Great Plague of London. This is a true account what happened to me.

I am able to write about it because I am stronger and I understand my disease. Why am I showing it? Read on....

Lefties, lead by example

For a while there I was very angry. Part of it was because of the loose rhetoric used against President Bush (even today) and part of it was due to the Plague Year. Put together that combination and then respond by:

A) Not answering my questions
B) Telling us to "up our game" after scorching the Earth against President Bush,

Well.....

Around the Net, I found a combination of rules that Left Bloggers went by these rules:
------------------------------
1) Question The Motivations: When liberals are losing an argument, they love to shift the discussion not to the facts at hand, but to the motivation of the person on the other side. That's because it's almost impossible to prove what someone's motive may be for a particular action.

2) The Anonymous Smear: Want to launch an attack at a conservative, but don't have a credible source handy? No problem. Just take a vicious critic or an unreliable source and make them "anonymous."

3) The Teary Eyed Spokesman: One of the Left's favorite tactics of late is to pick pathetic figures we're supposed to feel sorry for as spokesmen. That way, if you try to respond to the lies of someone like Cindy Sheehan, you're accused of picking on the mother of a dead soldier. If you try to respond to the lies of Max Cleland, you're accused of picking on a crippled vet.

4) Rewriting History: The American public has a short memory and liberals count on that to get away with many of their most egregious lies. For example, that's the factor liberals count on when they try to pretend that George Bush lied about WMDs to get us into Iraq.

5) Everybody Knows: When liberals want to avoid a losing argument, they sometimes just refuse to have the argument at all and assure everyone that the matter has already been decided.

6) The Ransom Note method: One of the Lefts favorite tricks is to take something a conservative says completely out-of-context and to attack that comment, even if it's obvious that they're twisting the meaning of what was said. This is how the Left can accuse John McCain of wanting to fight for 100 years in Iraq or say Rush Limbaugh wants Barack Obama to fail even if it hurts the country.

7) The Straw Man: If you can't find a sin conservatives have committed to attack, then invent one. This is one of the most used arrows in the quiver of liberals who claim the Right wants to create a theocracy, kick senior citizens off of Social Security, or reward the rich at the expense of the middle class.

(h/t: John Hawkins -- Read the full piece at the Link)

Then there is the article the Andrew Breitbart wrote for the Washington Times:

A digital war has broken out, and the conservative movement is losing. Read the comment sections of right-leaning blogs, news sites and social forums, and the evidence is there in ugly abundance. Internet hooligans are spewing their talking points to thwart the dissent of the newly-out-of-power.

We must not let that go unanswered.

Uninvited Democratic activists are on a mission to demoralize the enemy - us. They want to ensure that
President Obama is not subject to the same coordinated, facts-be-damned, multimedia takedown they employed over eight long years to destroy the presidency - and the humanity - of George W. Bush.

Political leftists play for keeps. They are willing to lie, perform deceptive acts in a coordinated fashion and do so in a wicked way - all in the pursuit of victory. Moral relativism is alive and well in the land of Hope and Change and its Web-savvy youth brigade expresses its "idealism" in a most cynical fashion.

The ends justify the means for them - now more than ever.

Much of Mr. Obama's vaunted online strategy involved utilizing "Internet trolls" to invade enemy lines under false names and trying to derail discussion. In the real world, that's called "vandalism." But in a political movement that embraces "graffiti" as avant-garde art , that's business as usual. It relishes the ability to destroy other people's property in pursuit of electoral victory.

Hugh Hewitt's popular site shut off its comments section because of the success of these obnoxious invaders.
Breitbart.com polices nonpartisan newswire stories for such obviously coordinated attacks. Other right-leaning sites such as Instapundit and National Review Online refuse to allow comments, knowing better than to flirt with the online activist left.
During the Clinton impeachment scandal, a new group out of California called MoveOn.org employed a plan to get its members to dial into right-leaning talk radio shows with scripted talking points falsely claiming that they were Republicans. They said they would never vote for the GOP again if the case against
Bill Clinton was pursued.

Rush Limbaugh was the first to isolate these "seminar callers," whose mission during the Lewinsky mess was to fool the listening audience into believing they were outraged conservatives willing to cut their ties to the Republican Party if the GOP-led Congress continued down the impeachment path

Eleven years later, "seminar callers" abound and call screeners are trained in the art of weeding them out. But the filtering does not always work.

"This is nothing more than the Internet version of Soviet disinformation," Human Events editor Jed Babbin told me. "MoveOn.org and the little boys from 'Lord of the Flies' who run Media Matters want to make it appear that there's huge dissension within conservative ranks on issues on which we're most united."

The left also uses disinformation to inundate the advertisers of conservative-leaning talk shows to intimidate them from financially supporting popular mainstream shows.

Media Matters even offered its services to an autism support group in its attempt to bring down talk-show host Michael Savage. It had nothing to do with Mr. Savage's underlying offense.

Would Media Matters go after Keith Olbermann if he made a tirade against the afflicted? David Brock and company certainly didn't raise a peep when President Obama made a joke at the expense of the Special Olympics.

So now that the right is vanquished and thoroughly out of power, why doesn't it learn from its conquerors and employ similar tactics?

The answer is obvious. The right, for the most part, embraces basic Judeo-Christian ideals and would not promote nor defend the propaganda techniques that were perfected in godless communist and socialist regimes. The current political and media environment crafted by supposedly idealistic Mr. Obama resembles Hugo Chavez's Venezuela more than John F. Kennedy's America.

The Huffington Post, Daily Kos and other left-leaning sites benefit from the right's belief that there are rules and decorum in political debate and civic engagement. Of course, every now and then, a curious right-winger will go in and engage in discussion at a left-wing site, but rarely under purely disingenuous and mass coordinated means.

David Brock, John Podesta, am I missing something?

As a prolific consumer of online content, I value nothing more than the sincere expression of opinion that differs from mine. Sometimes I am even moved or swayed from my dogma. But that was not the type of communication that got Mr. Obama elected.

The American right is in a heap of trouble in a media age that doesn't shun the goons and liars that have poisoned the political process and won the American presidency by breaking the rules of fair play. It is time to fight back, but it won't be easy. The enemy is willing to do and say anything in order to win."

And finally there is Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals (h/t: Wizbang):

1. Power is not only what you have, but what the enemy thinks you have.

2. Never go outside the experience of your people. You never want your own people to be disoriented, confused, and disheartened by your own tactics. Save that for the other side.

3. Whenever possible, go outside the experience of the enemy.

4. Make the enemy live up to their own book of rules. Alinsky's example is controversial, but effective -- the Christian Church has never lived up to all the rules of Christianity.

5. Ridicule is man's most potent weapon. It is almost impossible to counterattack ridicule, and it infuriates the opposition.

6. A good tactic is one that your people enjoy.

7. A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag.

8. Keep the pressure on. Utilize a mix of different tactics and actions on a continual basis. Tie them into current events.

9. The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself.

10. The major premise for tactics is the development of operations that will maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition.

11. If you push a negative hard and deep enough, it will break through into its counterside. Alinsky illustrates this point with the story about a break-in where his home was ransacked, followed by a break-in at the Industrial Areas Foundation offices using keys taken from his home. The only thing stolen at the IAF office was a set of files concerning a particular corporation that the IAF was targeting. Police noted that "the corporation might just as well have left its fingerprints all over the place."

12. The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative. This is an extremely important goal for the organizer. Organizing isn't about rabble-rousing or agitation; it's about solving problems. Alinsky notes that a successful organizations are the ones whose actions actually result in positive change.

13. Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it. Rule number 13 is all about ending the "dog chasing its tail pattern" of entities shifting blame from one to another -- it's the CEO's fault; no, I answer to the Board of Directors, so it's their fault; no, we answer to the shareholders, so it's their fault, etc. Blame-shifting is an effective stalling tactic and unless it is undermined it can quickly disorient an organizing program. Alinsky says that when you "freeze" a specific target, you not only end the blame-shifting game, but you also smoke out the other targets as they come forward to defend your primary target. The target must also be personal, not an ideology or some other abstraction.

Now that we know what rules the Left follows, here is my challenge, especially to the Bloggers out there.

First, I never got an answer to these two Questions:

A) Was Rush right (especially after 2003)?
B) Was Olbermann right (for attacking a charity for Political points)?

Answer these in the respective posts or here, but read them first.

C) To "Up our game" against President Obama means that between 2003- 2007, Bloggers on the Left "Upped their game" as well. Show me the links and the Blogs. Were these Blogs popular or not?

When I ask "A", answer "A" then go off on the next tagent. Otherwise, you are following the rules from above, which means you are not "upping your game,"

Lead by example or not at all.
