Los Angeles Primary 2011 -- The Propositions

With October winds rising in March, we are on the verge of Primary day in Los Angeles.
Now, since RPLAC cannot give any advice during a Primary, we turn to Kevin James for advice.
Not THIS Kevin James:

(Kevin James - Food in NYC -- Comedy Central Special -- VERY funny)

THIS Kevin James:

He is a great local radio show host (as well as Tim Conway Jr.of KFI and Doug McIntyre of KABC), but Kevin James (radio host) is known for going to the different groups from County to the SFVRC and others.

We'll go over the Props and the recommendations by Radio Show Host Kevin James, not Comedian Kevin James, and of course, how and why I'll vote the way I do.

Prop G: Fire and Police Pension Plans for New Hires after 7/1/11:

KJ: YES    JSF: YES

Why? Police and Firemen ashould always be helped.

Prop H: Limit Campaign Contributions by those who have Bids before the City in any capacity?

KJ: YES  JSF: YES

Why? As long as power is concentrated among few (thanks Democrats!), then I shall offer three words: CONFLICT OF INTEREST

Prop I: For LADWP, an office of Public Accountability

KJ: YES   JSF: NO

Why? More bureaucracy, there are ways of making the LADWP more accountable to the public, this prop isn't the way.

Prop J: LADWP submits budget to the Los Angeles City Council

KJ: YES   JSF: YES

Why? The City Council answers to the public and the City Council should have final say over such a powerful agency.

Prop L: Slush Fund for Libraries?

KJ: NO  JSF: NO

Why? There is a way to save the Libraries in the city without shifting the funds around sneakily -- Cut the City Council's pay.

Prop M: Tax Medical Marijana?

KJ: NO  JSF: YES

Why? Walk down any major street and you see these collectives.  If they are there, why not get tax funds and legalize it?  (As I said, before I am a Social Libertarian)

Prop N:  Does Los Angeles abide by the SCOTUS decision of Citizens United?

KJ: YES JSF: YES

Why?  SCOTUS did us politico professionals a favor, it's not an idealistic vote, but a pragmatic one.  It helps ME.

Prop O: Tax any Oil producers throughout Los Angeles for an undetermined City Slush Fund

KJ: NO  JSF: NO

Why? You want more tax revenue for the City? Bring business' back.  And all those people who hate oil companies should not drive cars.  Take public transportation instead.

Prop P: Emergency Fund created and then ONLY available if 2/3 of the Council approves

KJ:  YES JSF: NO

Why?  Has any funds allocated for things (such as schools, roads, etc) been used for what it was supporsed to be allocated for?  Not with this group of Politicians.

Prop Q: Limit the amount of City Jobs using Civil Service Exams

KJ: YES  JSF: YES

Why? Efficiency in City Government starts with getting leadership in place quickly.  Prop Q will allow that.

And those are the Props, peeps!
