If the Republicans approach Blue Dog Democrats especially in Texas and Louisiana, my warning is to be mindful of the positions taken by Justices O'Connor amd Souter on questions of federalism and social issues because, they are fiercely independent eschewing rigid party identifications. Especially, in Texas voters prefer not to judge camdidates on a theoretical construction like a party platform but, on the real politics of an individual candidate.
