Putting the Valley to Sleep

After ten years (and multiple stop and starts), the Valley must rest as I create a new writing platform.

Reclining Odalisque or Woman with Parakeet by E. Delacroix (1827)

This was the Blog that toppled a Congressman in my district (by proving he didn't live here); It was here I engaged in debates about media bias', anti-semitism on the Left (still going at KPFK), neo-conservatism, Paulbot madness and Winning in Los Angeles and California.

This is a Blog where I promote unique Muses (i.e. Goths) and discuss personal issues.  But sometimes, you must let the past go to create the new.

I still want to work in DC or Sacramento  (State Senate too) doing Policy work.  But, add London (House of Commons) to that dream as well. I know (and can work IRL) Appropriations and Process. With a touch of public relations.  Hire me.

Again, I will be a Delegate to the CAGOP.  Soon, I will be writing a nonfiction (and fiction) book.

The Valley will always be here.  The author is moving.  When I have the new Blog (still deciding upon name and platform), it will be linked here.

The show ends with Film (short and long) and Music.

The short film is called Sundays, which questions the Nature of Reality;

The Long Film is Six-String Samurai (1998) a cult favorite

And we finish off with Moby, "Flower" which mixes in a Gospel Spiritual with techno.

Thanks RS, Smitty, Wombat, Pam, Dan and Insty!

See you at the NEXT Blog!

Hate Speech in NoHo: #KPFK and Margaret Prescod share ISIS' views on Jews and GOP

Read this:

Sojourner Truth with Margaret Prescod, August 20 ·

Ten Suggested Discussion Points for Unity

1. Reparations for African-Americans- support the John Conyers Bill H.R.40 Now! (Coates.)

2. Stop the war of genocide against Black America! A young black male was killed by an officer of the US law enforcement agencies every 36 hours alone in 2012, according to a study by the Malcolm X Grassroots Movement. This is Fascism “Amerikkkan” style. Killer cops must go! Stop police killings, brutality and harassment.

3. Fight back against the gentrification against African American working class communities by “globalized” universities, hospitals, and corporate contracting interests (developers).

4. Fight back against right wing (Tea Party) takeover of state governments in eliminating the right to vote particularly for African Americans and the elderly, and attacks against public sector workers and labor. Support “Moral Monday” in North Carolina, Georgia and other places.

5. Fight to save local autonomy (democracy) from corporate takeovers, right wing assaults by emergency fiscal managers appointed by governments (Detroit, Newark, NJ).

6. End all student debt now! (Past, present, and future.) Make education from K to post PhD free – if Cuba can do it, so can the U.S. Fight for academic freedom – 1500 colleges and universities in the US.

7. Demand freedom for all US political prisoners! End the mass incarceration of African people.

8. Demand affirmative action now in the construction industry and related organized unions – particularly in the private sector. (Read “Black Power at work”, Dubois, The Philadelphia Negro, pg 331-332)

9. Down with Zionism! Boycott Israel – the New Nazis of the 21st Century. Cut off funding to Israel.

10. Struggle against fundamentalism of all forms – Christian, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Shintoism, etc. and Eurocentric Marxism.

And here is the Valley's response:

From the shadows of North Hollywood and the mind of a KPFK radio host, comes hate speech (again). For a person like Alan Minsky who wants to build coalitions, his morning crew seems set to destroy any chance of them.  For my candidates from San Pedro to Santa Clarita, every Democratic and Liberal candidate should learn about this "unity"

One thing I learned about "Unity," you give to get. AND don't sound like a Hater.  Look at all these requests.  Not one shows understanding of the other side. Not one amount of (as the song for her program ) "One Love,"

Let's break a few of these down:

First, the most personal: Number 9.

How dare you Ms. Prescod?  Have you no shame?

Know who else shares your view about Jews? ISIS.

Allow me to quote:

ISIS has “not only stated intentions to form a caliphate, but named U.S. and Jewish people as targets specifically,” said John Cohen, who until earlier this year was an undersecretary for intelligence and analysis at the Department of Homeland Security. “There’s a significant threat to Jewish communities.”

When you compare Jews and Israel protecting themselves in the ONLY Jewish State in the world to Nazi's, you share the same political bedsheets as ISIS.   Every Jew killed within the sound of your radio show is on your hands.  The blood is yours.

You did not care if Yaakov Naftali, 16, Gilad Shaer, also 16, and Eyal Yifrah, 19 died.  They were taken from their homes and killed.  You claim to care for the youth, except for Jewish ones. Except for Israeli ones.  Hamas cheered every Israeli death, so do you.

And let me refresh your history.  Remember "Land for Peace?"  Israel gave the Palestinian the land to build and grow their own country. The Gaza Strip has beaches and already built homes.  What did they do with it?

Send missiles into Israel with it. If the Gazans want a country, all they need is to build roads, schools and have elections.  And stop attacking their neighbors.  You wouldn't like it if someone threw bombs in your backyard everyday, especially if you gave them the nice house next door.

Tea Parties and the Right Wing: We're here, get used to it!

I see in number 4 you Hate the Right wing.  You Hate the Tea Party.

But in your show,

A) You never interview a Republican or Conservative or Local Tea Party Member;

B) Every time you bring up the Republicans, Conservatives or Tea party, you get it all wrong.  Even WBAI interviewed Ayn Rand.  Are you so scared of other ideas that you refuse to call up and discuss if a rumor is true?

Apparently your Hate wants the Tea Party (Fiscal Conservatives), Republicans (usually Establishment from DC fighting against the local groups) and Conservatives (You don't even know the branches Ms. Prescod) to stop being part of the American Polity.  That means if anyone of the Right goes to your website or FB page or Twitter, your issues are moot.

If you can't play nice with others (and that goes for my side too), don't expect any give.  If you live in America, you're going to have to meet us and speak to us.

Go back to Haiti if you Hate Jews and Republicans.

Watch this video:

No Unity on Racial Issues either

1,2,3,5,7 and 8 all deal with racial issues with a slant that does not say "Unity" but says "America is horrible, let's take from it,"

Now, some good issues are addressed among them: incarceration rates among African American boys and men.  Yes, I would rather that not happen. Before the 1968 social explosion, even if you protested you wore a shirt and a tie.

But Prescod also opposes business' entering poor areas.  OK Ms. Prescod (and Mr. Minsky), hire up the impoverished (such as those on Skid Row) at KPFK.  You don't want others doing it?  Government (local, state and national) is not filled with funds

If you Hate business', don't expect anyone to give funds for the fund drive. There is cultural rot all over, how do you stop the Gangs, the lack of Fathers, and the idea that the current Leadership of Democrats that do not care about these neighborhoods to make change?

Ms. Prescod, you don't want things to get better, you want to complain.

I'm not even going into your support of Dictators everywhere and dancing on graves of people of the Right.  But this is America, we like fair play and Democracy.

I am willing to look at these issues (as a Pragmatist; 1,2,3,5,7,8 are ideals, what gives Unity? Nothing).  But what will be given in return?

Ms. Prescod, Mr. Minsky, what are either of you doing for "Unity" in America? NOTHING.

The hate speech on Pacifica is getting known.  Try being nice next time.

My question: Ms. Prescod is an immigrant from Haiti, yet she never reaches out to those who thinks differently.  Why?

California Primary Endorsement Post #2 -- City of Angels (and one in SD and SB)

"Hip" Map of LA

Here we go!

A quick Reminder for Endorsements:

RPLAC = Republican County of Los Angeles;
CRA = California Republican Assembly (From the Right); and
RLC = Republican Liberty Caucus (Libertarian and Ron Paul Supporters).

***Also, these are my endorsements.  Though I am part of a few Republican organizations, these choices are my own and do not reflect on any group. *****

First though, I am going to travel south to a contested campaign.  Because I don't like the way he has been treated by some Social Conservatives (This person is particularly homophobic -- Reagan's Eleventh commandment does not matter; Only HER vision of what America used to be.)  I'm a Goth and don't take kindly to people not wanting people in my culture [Goths] and District [Reagan's old Home District has West Hollywood where I have many friends] out of the GOP.

After DeMaio's office was attacked, rather then stand behind each other, Jorgensen did not say anything.  This is not cool.

I endorse DeMaio in CA52 (SDGOP)

And my friend John A. wanted me to give a shout out to a candidate in San Benandino:

I endorse Lesli Gooch for CA-31 (SBGOP).  She is a Pragmatic Conservative, we need more like that in DC.

State Assembly Districts

Now, welcome to LA!

Here are the Assembly candidates (not all endorsed by RPLAC) and any asterisks means I can vote for them.

AD 36 (Palmdale) -- Suzette Martinez
AD 38 (Santa Clarita) -- Scott Wilk (RPLAC)
AD 43 (Burbank) -- Todd Royal
AD 45 (W. SFV) -- Susan Shelley (RPLAC and she is a good friend. Vote for her!)
AD 46 (Sherman Oaks) Zachary Taylor (RPLAC)
AD 48 (West Covina) Joe Gardner (RPLAC)
AD 49 (Monterey Park) Estrela Siergist (RPLAC)
AD 50 (MY District) Brad Torgan (RPLAC) Vote for this guy, he rocks!*
AD 52 (Ontario) Dorothy Pineda (RPLAC)
AD 54 (Culver City) Glen Ratcliff
AD 55 (Diamond Bar) Ling-Ling Chang
AD 57 (Whittier) Rita Topalian (RPLAC)
AD 62 (Inglewood) Ted Grose (RPLAC)
AD 63 (South Gate) Adam Miller (RPLAC)
AD 66 (Torrance) David Hadley (RPLAC)
AD 70 (Long Beach) John Goya (RPLAC)

SD 18 (SFV) Ricardo Benitez (RPLAC)
SD 20 (Ontario) Matthew Munson (RPLAC)
SD 24 (East LA) William Morrission (Good friend of mine, please vote for him!)
SD 32 (Whittier) Mario Guerra (RPLAC)
SD 34 (Huntington Beach) Janet Nguyen (RPLAC)

And we return to the Big Map for a Big State!

OK! My favorite races to follow!

Let's walk in LA to see all the different districts!

CD 23 (Kern)  Rep. Kevin McCarthy (RPLAC)

CD 25 (Santa Clarita/Palmdale) Steve Knight  -- This seat is where "Buck" McKeon is retiring. A lot of hard words and backstabbing is occurring here.  To keep the past in the past (as it were -- more on the dead at another time), I endorse Steve Knight.  (But I will happily work with Tony Strickland if he wins).

CD 26 (Ventura County) Jeff Gorrell (RPLAC)

CD 27 (Pasadena) Jack Orswell (RPLAC)

CD 29 (East SFV) William Leader (RPLAC)

CD 30 (West SFV) Pablo Kleinman -- Another harsh campaign fr a vote rich territory.  My rule remains the same, my choice for the primary, the winner gets my support for the General.  In this heavily Jewish area, Kleinman represents the area well.

CD 32 (West Covina) Arturo Alas (RPLAC) -- I am happy to support him! Go Alas Go!

CD 33 (MY Home district -- Waxman's old district and Reagan's home district)
Elan Carr.  No one else matters.  He is legit, his campaign is strong and no amount of re-districting should make any seat safe for any party.  The House is still going to be Majority Republican.  If the Westside and Beverly Hills want a voice, vote Carr!*

CD 37 (Culver City) Adam King (RPLAC)

CD 39 (Fullerton) Rep. Ed Royce (RPLAC)

CD 43 (Inglewood) John Wood (RPLAC)

CD 47 (Long Beach) Andy Whallon (RPLAC)

And finally, here comes the Judges! (AL RPLAC endorsed)

Office #61 LA County Dayan Matthai
Office #76 LA County Allison Matsumura Estrada
Office #87 LA County Steven Schreiner
Office #107 LA County Joan Chrostek
Office #117 LA County Judge James Pierce
Office #138 LA County Donna Hollingsworth Armstrong
Office #157 LA County Andrew Cooper
Office #157 LA County Arnold Mednick

See you at the voting booth!

California Primary 2014 Endorsement Post #1: Tops of the Ticket

Let's take it from the Top and move down ticket.

First some music:

***These are individual endorsements. These endorsements are not from any Organization from which I am a member.  They are mine, and mine alone.  Asterisks are those Ballots that I can vote for. Enjoy the ride!****

Notes:
RPLAC is Republican County of Los Angeles County;
CRA is the California Republican Assembly (From the Right); and
RLC is the Republican Liberty Caucus (Libertarian and Ron Paul supporters)

Governor's Race:  Assemblyman Tim Donnally (Endorsed by RPLAC, CRA, RLC)*
This race has caused a little chaos down among the activists; But for me, it is the Honorifics in front of Mr. Donnally's name that helps. He has run campaigns, he has moved among the ground forces.

In the battle between Establishment DC Republicans vs. Local Control, Donnally has taken the time to work the Ground.  Kashkari flew in with his funds and DC backing.  As we saw with Meg Whitman and Governor Romney, that is not enough.

Lt. Governor: Ron Nehring (RPLAC, CRA)*
I have known Chairman Nehring on and off since SUNY-Stonybrook.  He is a solid leader and would be the best person in Sacramento to keep Gov. Brown (D) in check if he wins; And he can help Gov. Donnally (R) if he wins. In other words, the Valley calls voting for Nehring a win-win!

Secretary of State: Pete Peterson (RPLAC, CRA)*
This is the race where California Democratic Party hypocrisy was exposed in Assemblyman Leland Yee.  (Follow the links for the whole story)

With a Democrat, a former GOP now a NPP [No Party Preference] candidate, all that is left is Pete Peterson. When you go NPP as a candidate, I think "Someone who stands for nothing, etc." As an active partisan, you understand the system then you make it better.

AG: Former State Senator Phillip Wyman (Endorsed by RPLAC, CRA) *

Treasurer: Greg Conlon *

Controller: Mayor Ashley Swearengen (Endorsed by RPLAC, CRA)*

Superintendent of Public Instruction: Lydia Gutierrez (RPLAC, CRA) She is a dedicated school teacher and a friend of mine.  This one I want you to pull the lever for. *

Insurance Commissioner: State Senator Ted Gaines (RPLAC, CRA)*

Now the Tops of the Los Angeles Ticket (after a musical Interlude):

Prop 41:  Yes (in theory), No (due to reality). *
With the spotlight (finally) on Veteran and VA problems, the calling for Bonds for Housing is good.

California can handle the first half (raising the funds) of the equation easy, but when it comes down to following through, I need only drive by Skid Row or walk along Santa Monica Promenade and Venice beach to know of promises broken by the State (including the Federal Mammon).

I endorse the idea, but the follow through failing again does not bring me hope.

Prop 42:  Yes, yes and YES! *
Local Governments (City and State) are the closest to the people.  If there is no way to keep our local candidates honest, within a one Party system, an Assemblyman Leland Yee appears saying one thing ("Guns are bad,") and doing another (Gun smuggling with criminals)

What our officials say in the Governmental sphere is important.  It is who they are.

Sheriff -- The only legitimate "R" is corrupt; so I had to find a candidate who is not corrupt who errs on the side of treating "Law and Order," by the book: I endorse Bob Olmstead. *

Assessor -- I endorse wholeheartedly (since I have met him many, many times): John Morris (RPLAC)*.
He will clean out the corrupt office of the assessor.  While he might be a prosecuter, he can delegate and has a good sense of who is right and honest.  Both LA papers (the Times and the News) Endorsed him as well.

Finally, who is in charge of tax collecting? Meet your Board of Supervisor member:

District 2  -- George Runner (RPLAC, CRA)*

Is Jose Aguilar of RPLAC really a Democratic Party Mole?

It seems that I am not the only Lonely G-d who demands sacrifice.

Someone sent out emails asking us not to endorse a candidate for tomorrow.  Follow my FB and/or Twitter feed for more at the Endorsement meeting.

Now, onto my sacrifice.

Is this Jose Aguilar?

Or is this a better image of Jose Aguilar?

In the science fiction world, there are always tests to see if an Artificial Intelligence can think independently.  Whether it was the Voight-Kampff test of Blade Runner or the Turing Test of Neuromancer, how one distinguishes human from Bot is still something we are working on.

Many intrepid Liberal reporters and Bloggers go onto Face book of Republican candidates and Parties to see how their supporters act.  One needs only read Memorandum  to see that what goes on Facebook can end up in an opposing campaigns book tomorrow.

To understand Jose Aguilar, you have to read (or see the movie) 1984 by Orwell.  He, like I have written about Democrats, needs his Two Minute Hate:

Like any good Liberal, he hates neo-cons.

Let me show you:

1) The Nation magazine (Left Wing) Hates Neocons;
2) The American Prospect (Left Wing) Hates Neocons;

3) MSNBC (Left wing) Hates Neocons; and
4) Crazy mass murderers Hate Neocons.

These are the people that Jose Aguilar has aligned with.

When Aguilar follows Former Rep. Ron Paul's words to the letter, one must ask, is he human or is he a Democratic Party Mole?

Even the Liberty Crowd gets sick of his paranoiac ravings, he has no place in RPLAC unless he understands that Neo-CONSERVATIVES are part of the Republican (i.e. RPLAC) Coalition.  Los Angeles needs a Republican win and I look down upon any person who wants to kick people OUT of the party.  I converted to the GOP in the Summer of 1992, I have voted for more Republican POTUS candidates then Aguilar, he should leave the party if he hasn't followed suit.

If Aguilar wants to fight Neo-Cons, he should quit his position on his Central Committee, fly to DC and join a Democratic Peace group that fights neo-cons. Until then, Los Angeles has the second biggest population of Jews.

Yelling "NEO-CON," in a crowded Face book room opens up any ally of Jose Aguilar's to charges of Anti-semitism.

Anyone can say there is bad in the world, anyone can copy and paste articles, but it takes a Human to think about creative solutions that adds more allies.  Children call names, adults work with others to find solutions.

I ask the Liberty Coalition (Nick Hankoff is a person I can work with) and the RPLAC membership to start questioning Aguilar's role.

If he is not adding anything to building a coalition to help Republicans win in Los Angeles, why is he allowed to write on our Facebook walls?

Only RPLAC members can comment here.

And Jose Aguilar, here is your questions:
1) We know you want to rid the world of neo-cons, but what is your vision (NOT Ron Paul's, YOURS!) of the GOP and Presidential Foreign Policy?
2) And then tell us: what is your role in RPLAC?  You anger more people then if President Obama blocked off Olympic Boulevard again.

The Lonely G-d has fed.

Does RPLAC Stand Together and Fight? Or Shall the Democrats take the Ring?

I was going to put together a campaign this season, but I had to cancel those plans because of a breakdown between the Two Groups within RPLAC:

1) The Liberty Caucus -- Ron Paul Supporters; Paulbots, Conspiracy theorists and Paleoconservatives. These are Idealists; and

2) The Reagan Caucus -- Most of the RPLAC Leadership and many of us who have spent years in the trenches fighting battles within our own party and the Democrats.  The Reagan Caucus is working with the Real Tea Partiers across the Southland, the San Fernando Tea party and the Beverly Hills Tea party to name two. These are Pragmatists.

The Liberty Caucus is made up of people who will follow the words of Former Rep. Ron Paul over the leadership of any other Republican. Many of them refused to vote for the Republican Presidential candidate in 08 and 12, because Rep. Paul did not win the primary (I've had many conversations on FB with such people).  They espouse a Fortress America standpoint and almost hatred of working with foreign allies; The Liberty Caucus would rather strike at Republicans first (as Ron Paul did against Reagan in 1986) then work with them.  Cue Cult of Personality by Living Color.

Even Social Conservatives know the value of alliances.  Not the Liberty Caucus.

Secondly, the Reagan Caucus are made of people who worked with many coalitions and are trying to bring Los Angeles back to Republican hands.

Instead of a Fellowship to destroy the Democrats, RPLAC is in a Civil War.

How did we get here?

I. Promises, promises

Before the re-structuring meeting, the Liberty Caucus promised Future Chairman Vafiadesthat they would work together to form a United Caucus.  After having Three Liberty Caucus members on the board (unopposed), the Liberty caucus reneged and worked on adding a Fourth (Arturo Alas) during the same meeting.

In politics and policy either you have your word or you don't.  This first moment defined the Liberty Caucus -- willing to renege if it suits their purposes.  Boromir did the same thing to the Fellowship when he chose the Ring over the goal.

The Reagan Caucus was not amused. The Unity Caucus was dead.

II.  Breaking the Fellowship, meeting by meeting

There have been many meetings where it breaks down into chaos because a Liberty caucus member will not follow the ruling of the chair;

There have been many meetings where the Liberty Caucus would rather go to war with Republicans then build a coalition to defeat Democrats;

There have been many meetings where the Liberty caucus refuses to understand protocols.

Each time, it leads RPLAC away from being able to help candidates and makes it harder to gain ground during this election cycle.
The Three Hunters, lost in Middle earth or post-election 2014 if the Liberty Caucus continues

And this past week, Stan McClain (Liberty Caucus) sent out an email to every RPLAC member attacking Chairman Vafiades (Reagan Caucus).  This is not the way to build a coalition. Where is the give from the Liberty Caucus?

The Goal of the Reagan Caucus within RPLAC is to win more seats for Republicans from the Valleys to the Ocean.

The goal of the Liberty Caucus is to frustrate the Reagan Caucus and RPLAC from doing its job.  Rather then work with Gandalf, Saruman looked out for himself.

The Liberty Caucus wants Isengard and the Shire; I want to win Los Angeles.

III. Sending the Eagles to Mordor

By rights, I should be in the Liberty camp. I am a small-"l" Libertarian (see "Commerce, democracy and Rock & Roll,) but their attacks on neo-cons, Israel and a false belief in a Fortress America scares me from their camp. (Heck, Reagan was a neo-con!)

Liberty to choose means freedom to be who you are.  If the current Libertarians weren't part of a cult of personality, again, I might have joined them.

And because a local Liberty group cannot work with the 50th GOP Assembly District committee, I cannot run until that bridge is fixed. Their is too much infighting not enough pointing our sticks at Democrats,  Oy!

My message to County and State parties:

Your Liberty Caucuses cannot be trusted.  They work for the Paul's not the GOP.  It is time for Chairman Priebus to have a meeting with both Paul's and discuss what the words Loyalty, Trust and Alliances  MEANS because Liberty Caucuses within the GOP have none of these qualities.

We can win against the Democrats if we are UNITED!

And what can be done fix RPLAC?

I suggest a meeting between the head of the Liberty Caucus and Chairman Vafidates at the CRP offices in Burbank with the CRP and RNC consul there (Might I add Shawn Steel and Harmeet Dhillon?).

Work out a deal.  If the Liberty Caucus reneges (again), RPLAC can rid themselves of a disloyal group.

But as I've been told many times, Social Conservatives make deals, Paul Supporters care nothing for alliances.

Liberty Caucus, prove me wrong. (And someone tell Jose Aguilar that there are no Neo-Cons under his bed! They are members within RPLAC!)

My question: Why do the Paul supporters work to undermine Republicans, not Democrats?

If you want to be a Republican Governor in California, Remember the Lessons of 2010!

This first (real) post of the year deals with something I care very much about:

Who will run for the Top of the Ticket in California (influencing the Down Ticket here in the Southland)?

Within 72 hours, one candidate dropped out (Abel Maldonado), another helicoptered in (Neel Kashkari) and another maintained his ground (Tim Donnelly).

The last Gubernatorial Election, we had a policy maker with no Political experience win the Primary (repeated on a national level in 2012 with the same team!) against a candidate who worked within the Party Structure who built connections. The Party Guy lost and we all lost in 2010.

Lesson 1) Money does not win elections; Ground support and loyalty does.

What made 2010 frustrating was that we were sending a green candidate against a Democrat with years and years and years of campaigning experience under his belt.  We face Governor Brown again.  He knows the Dirty Tricks to play, we should not to send a JV candidate against a Super Bowl Veteran (sorry, but Governor Brown is experienced).

Lesson 2) Candidates for the Top of the Ticket need experiences in winning and losing campaigns.  If you never run, one low blow will knock you out of the Election.

Also, 2010 was a Tidal year.  For all the work that came from the Whitman campaign, she was the wrong messenger when we needed to FIGHT THE POWER! Heck, the GOP owns no major positions in CA, we are the rebels and the underdogs, if you are not singing that tune, you've given the game away.

Lesson 3) The biography of the Gubernatorial candidate will be the message as well as the Policy espoused.  Don't fall into the trap of thinking your past and present has no bearing on Democratic Party attacks.

What galled me about Whitman's team was how they spent no time or Political Capitol dealing with the local activists. Poizner went into the lion's den of the San Fernando Valley Republican Club; into the headwinds at the SDGOP and also met with everyone at RPLAC.  Whitman's people spent no time making nice with the local activists who could have helped.  We know how that turned out.

Lesson 4) If you are unwilling to go into Thunderdome with your own activists and take the hard questions, you will lose the General Election.  Win the Primary by winning the activists.  Money does not win them, only how well you do under fire.

And finally, look at this map of California:

Election 2010 Whitman (Red) v. BROWN (Blue)

We own the outer counties, to win the Central Valley, talk about the Delta Smelt and to win in LA, look at the traffic on the 405 and 101.  There is saying among Old School Republicans here in CA: Governor (and President) Reagan did not win State (or Country)wide, he won precinct by precinct.

Lesson 5) Don't take any vote for granted, and use the local activists to help you get into areas most Republicans are not campaigning in (yet).  Fight for every vote as if you were behind 20 votes.  And be sure to have people making sure each vote is legal!

My question: What lessons would you give to the CA Gubernatorial candidates?

Thanks for the links Blackmailers Don't Shoot and The Other McCain!

A Birthday Lament or Why the Valley has Been Quiet

Hello again!

'Tis my Birthday, and I think I owe it to all of you why I have not (and continue to) not write.

Five Summers ago, I dealt with the plague year.  Unlike say, an anniversary or a Birthday, this was not something I like to remember. I spent the time past Halloween (as I am a Goth) and beyond taking stock of a few things:

1) Am I proud of the person I became?
2) Am I on the way ton achieving my goals?
3) What is missing in my life?

The first two were easy to answer.

For business reasons, sometimes I must drive through Skid Row in Downtown Los Angeles.  If you drive by once or twice, it does not sink in.  I spent weeks driving past the sad and decrepit. In the second major city of the United States, the poor exist with no shelter and no home.  (Santa Monica and Venice, Liberal cities both, also have their share of homeless).

Around October as I continued this drive, I learned to appreciate what I already have.
I appreciated my close friends and my family.
I might not have much in the wallet, but when I do, I try to give a little.
G-d knows I am not perfect, but all I can do is try.

Question two was complicated by the writers block on this very part of Cyberspace.  I am a writer and a Politico, who was not writing.  However, as December rolled in, I found a position worth campaigning for here in the Miracle Mile. That's the easy part.  Finding a paid position where I write, a little harder, but also came this December, a lead or two.

But question two of the writers block? I thought (and still think) the answer lies in question three:

After question one, I cared little about "Stuff" I like books, music and tech.  All three have a way of coming together so that was off the table (Humbleness has its rewards).

No, my heart and body knew it was missing a Muse to dance and dream with.  The last Muse was a girl named Neko....

As you can see laughter was a part. We had one date and then nothing.  Don't let the Deathrock look fool you, she had a Heart of Gold and the humor of Monty Python with Zombies..  Much laughter throughout. I miss her.

Another Muse has to deal with a Cyberstalker. As I rise throughout the Political Realm, I will hurt him for what he has done to my friend. We had some laughter on her Birthday, it is enough to say any girl who is smarter then me is always a Muse.

The chasing and the losses made it hard to write.

As I enter the Age of 43, I will promise to return to the Valley more often.  I get the way Pragmatic Politics works; I know the difference between Rhetoric and Reality; And finally, I don't Hate Democrats as I was one, but I also have to fight within the Republicans for my views as well.

One of the earliest lessons I learned in Life was Loyalty.  Any Muse who had my Heart will always be supported for them to persue their dreams and support since I gave a piece of myself willingly.

Let me end here by saying to get back into writing I might do a silly post or two. Writing was my first love.

Joseph Conrad's life and story "Heart of Darkness," inspired me.  Politics, from national to local (those I've been involved with) are my upriver.  The fiction tales will occur after I have achieved some more goals and become financially secure.

Let me conclude with a song.  It haunts but it's my life right now:

Thanks for reading.

My question: What do you like about the Valley?

The Valley Endorses Susan Shelley for Assembly for the 45th AD Special Election

The West Valley is hot in the summer; It's 10 degrees or more from where I am blogging tonight.

Because it is Politics, the Heat of the summer burns even brighter.

First, let me introduce you to a map of the 45th Assembly District (CA):

The Valley from Sherman Oaks west is very Jewish; As someone who lived in the Valley, yes, I know. I even have relatives on that side of the 405 (parts of Ventura blvd are just as Jewish as Fairfax Blvd in the city).  To deny the Valley's Jewishness is to deny Los Angeles as a haven for upcoming actors and musicians.Heck, the former chair of the San Fernando Valley Republican Club is Jewish and knows how to fight in the San Fernando Valley.  Check to see who he backs.

Playing the Political Game under the Prop 14 rules, the game is to get 50% + 1 to not have a runoff.  However, to get a Republican in the runoff, we need someone who has played the Outside game.

What is the Outside Game?  Visiting everyone from all Political stripes and getting their support.  Ms. Shelley has done that and more.  She has ben endorsed by the Right (Howard Jarvis Group of Prop 13 Fame) and the Moderates (Los Angeles Daily News) and the common businesspeople of CA-45 (I've read her endorsement list, its staggering).

She is a fighter, a doer and a thinker.  We need candidates of her quality to represent Los Angeles in Sacramento (Dare I say, of all Political Stripes?).  And she is a people person, that goes a long way in making deals to making sure Californians are not burdened with any more taxes.

Here is Ms. Shelley in a debate at the SFVRC:

And here is the Howard Jarvis commercial:

There are three reasons the GOP has a hard time winning in a winnable city like LA:

1) People cannot get over their losses and move on -- you lose a cycle, everyone should act like football players at the end of a game (post-primary and Post-election - exception: High Level staffer from POTUS and Governors' campaigns who cannot keep promises) and fights against the Left period.  Anything else personal BS.  I heard from multiple sources of a person doing this. No names here.  But this person must move on or the Valley will be lost.  There are more cycles, more election. She wins, everyone wins.

2)  No one is reading and adapting to the Demographics.  Social Conservatism will not win you in the City or the Valleys of Los Angeles.  What works in LA will not work in the Inland Empire or Texas.  Or to quote Speaker Tip O'Neil (again): All Politics is Local

3) No candidate in the Assembly race has built any coalitions. To win ANY Political race, coalitions are needed.  Ms. Shelley has ably performed that goal.

On September 17th, if you live in the 45th AD in the West San Fernando Valley, Vote for Susan Shelley!

Fractured Legalese:  JSF is a member of the 50th GOP AD.  He is doing this Endorsement individually and solely without consulting or lobbying anyone else of the 50th AD GOP.  This is JSF's Endorsement and no one else.

RE: Reform, Restructure and Resurrection

The Stakes We Play For Every Election

As someone who studies History, I wonder why Our Republican Establishment ignores it;
As someone who has been in and out of Politics since I was 15, I see Our Republican Establishment have forgot  strategies to win, not just in Presidential years, but every year.

And Our Republican Establishment forgets we are in a Two Front War, not just against the Democrats, but their Media Sympathizers.

There are Three Large States to get to 270:
The GOP only owns TX (38 EV + 36 Congressional Seats);

The Democrats own Two of the Three:
New York (29 EV + 27 Congressional Seats); and
California (55 EV + 53 Congressional Seats).

Can anyone play this game?

As of June 26th, 2013, The Democrats are going for a triple play and are working on getting a "Blue Texas,"  Thus, we have the GOP's ONLY big state on defense.

Do you want to change the odds?
Does the RNC, NRSC and NRCC to have a great ROI come Election Time? Every time?

I can play this game, so follow me.

1: Red Kings vs. Blue Knights: Policy Making And Optics

We Need to Fight the Barbarians (The Media) or Rome is Lost

Sometimes, we have to silence the Dragon.

The GOP has many different philosophies and regions.

When the RNC came to Hollywood and Highland and then fell back when the Social Conservatives threatened to withhold funding, you just lost 55 EV's.

Again.

Now, as we gear up for 2014, the Social Conservatives are leading Abortion Battles around the Country.  Yay for them, but it is killing any chance of opening the Franchise.

Again.

If you are fighting a Two Front War, you don't invade Russia at the end of Fall.  These Abortion Battles play into the Media's hands just as they turned two Moderate POTUS candidates (McCain and Romney) into wild eyed SOCIAL Conservatives.

The RINO's and Moderates cannot make friends in the MSM, they must make friends among the "Local Yokels" and the Right Bloggers-Fox-Talk Radio Allies.  The lesson's of McCain/Romney should be heard. It should be crystal clear that we cannot trust the Washington/New York Media Establishment.

If you still do, your name is Michael Murphy or David Frum.

Right now, the Social Conservatives, RINO's and Moderates all need to focus on winning MORE states first before eating the rest of the Pie.

And to win Policy battles, State and National figures must play another dimension of Chess:

How Every Policy Maker in the GOP Should Play. D's + Media v. GOP

How will the Media spin it?

2. 64 Squares, Bishops, Knights and Rooks: The Practical Tools we Already Have

Out of Three Big States, we can defend one (TX);

One is far beyond our calling despite the joke their State Democratic Party has become. Why?

The NYGOP could not stop Senator Clinton.  A big state and no actual candidates to run against Goliath? In the largest Media Market in the world, why can't the NYGOP write a Narrative to win?

Because they have none.

If the NYGOP wants to get in the game, they need to tell the rest of the country which cities (and counties) are winnable and why.  Until then, the RNC, NRSC and the NRCC should back the THIRD Big State:

California.

You don't need to fight everywhere.

Fund the Los Angeles County Republican Party; Fund the 17 GOP Assembly District Committees and Fund every candidate in every city in the Southland.

Los Angeles flips, so does California. And that is now TWO Large States.

What tools do we have to win?

First, every Election Committee should use iPrecinct -- thus the day to day groundwork will get done. Speak to my friend Lillian if you want to win.  (And this goes to every State and County Party too! Use this tool!)

Second, Bloggers can battle the Narrative used by the Media and the Democrats. If you wish to fight an Election Campaign or Policy Battle, I have the Blogger scars (as do most of my Blogger friends) to prove it.; And

Third: STOP WITH HIRING CONSULTANTS WHO DON'T KNOW THE GROUND. HIRE LOCAL YOKELS INSTEAD.

Now, to conclude:

3. Winning the Endgame

There is no excuse why our Executive Members are not building a short, medium, and long term strategy plans.  The best plan ahead but allow room for improvisation. They should carry a Chess board everywhere they fly. Think Blade Runner.

We are fighting a Two Front War and what has the RNC done to help the troops on the 'Net or on the Ground?

If we refuse to fight and win the Two Front War, shut down our offices on First Street, SE and call ourselves "Whigs,"

I expect better from our Chairs and Establishment Republicans.
I expect better from the Social Conservatives in other states.

Also, we cannot have Reagan's Eleventh Commandment broken by Consultants. They must sign a Loyalty Oath that lasts 20 years for each campaign (again, Frum and Murphy still rankle).

Governor Palin should not have been Media Raped by Andrew Sullivan and others. Where was Romney?

If the Establishment Republicans fire on our own people, we in the States and in the Right Blogosphere should have every Right to take over all Four Floors of the RNC/NRCC until attitudes change.

Do not doubt us.

If you want to win in 2014 and beyond, we are fighting here in Los Angeles: Join us.

My question:  How can the GOP win in the Two Front War?
