You don't want to read this post if you live in the DC Beltway

If you live in the DC area, I would not recommend doing anything below. I would also not recommend linking to this post.

Now, I wouldn't recommend contacting the Capitol Police at 202-224-5151 and telling them that Code Pink, based at 712 5th St., Northeast is planning to disrupt Congressional work.

And I wouldn't call the DC Fire Department at 202-673-3206 and tell them there are too many people staying at 712 5th St., Northeast and how dangerous it is for children living there. And I would especially not make this call at 3:00AM.

And I would not call the Department of Homeland Security [DHS] at 1-866-347-2423 about finding a list of people who gave $600,000 in 2006 within Fallujah for "insurgents", that originated at Code Pink's discretion. I would not tell DHS that Code Pink raised money against the United States and should be investigated.

Of course I would not endorse anything above, unless, say, Code Pink stops interrupting work on Capitol Hill.

  1. And of course you wouldn't suggest being incredibly petty towards a group you disagree with! Dude, seriously, this is so weak.

  2. Motek, what is with your code pink obsession? This is starting to become disturbing I am getting concerned about you. Code Pink is after all just one of many organizations, how about the fact that Bear Stearns is owned by the Saudis, and yet WE are bailing them out? Maybe I would prefer my tax money not go to fund terrorist activities...let alone doing a bail out for them.

  3. Malcot, the more you post, the more I truly appreciate your level head.

  4. Thank you Jason, it's nice to be appreciated. I think perhaps I will return to my own blog and post about bears and stearns later on today when the burbon is out of my system. I got a call from JSF regarding that comment, so perhaps I will tone it down next time. Anyway, I try to be level headed that's very true

  5. Jason, Malcot,

As I've said many times, let Congress work, there are places to protest on the Mall. Code Pink does not recognize rules or protocall when it comes to the American Legislature.

So, yes, until Code Pink gets a Lobbyist instead of interrupting a Senate Hearing, they are this year's Heathlander.

  6. JSF, you've got two of your friends coming from opposite sides of the political spectrum hinting around to the fact that you may be acting in a bit of an undignified way. Please do yourself a favor and listen to us. Don't make us have to pull an internet intervention on your ass! You're too smart and classy to be acting like a Freeper.

  7. Jason, as I always say he is a totalitarian, but he's my totalitarian and I love him dearly. I prefer the more radicalized version of him from our youth, but this version of him is a little scary even for me. What's an internet intervention, that sounds kind of intriguing. and yeah I guess we are on the opposite ends of the spectrum. He's a good man though, I can't fault his values or anything else. He's got a good head on his shoulders, and aa I said he's my totalitarian. I have a friend that is starting a blog and is probably closer to your views than his. She'd like more people to visit it, so if you get time please visit her at http://www.lindabprez.blogspot.com thanks, and don't worry about him too much.

  8. Malcot, an intervention is when a group of friends and family ambush a loved one who has a problem and try to talk them into doing something about it. It's usually about drugs or alcohol or gambling. So an internet intervention would be like that only in cyberspace. And of course, the idea of having an intervention for somebody showing totalitarian tendencies is very silly. I usually have a hard time reading conservative blogs because of the tone of their writers. I can disagree with JSF without wanting to reach through the wires and strangle. That's why it drives me a little nuts when he goes on these quixotic crusades.

  9. Jason, my dear, JSF's quixotic tendancies are just part of his personality. He wanted me to tell you he goes on 1 a year, but the reality is when I was dating him he had like 8 going on at the same time. It's part of his charm and why we all like him. Yeah I got ambushed into an intervention once, for bullshit but we don't talk about that anymore. JSF has always been good to me though. Guess that's why I keep him around. I hear you two are going to meet up soon, I hope that you both have fun. Don't worry about his quixoticness (ha, I just did a Bushism!) it is just the way he is. We wouldn't love him any other way. I know I wouldn't have him any other way...well I take that back there are some things I'd like to change about him, but they are few and far between.

  10. JSF, I am inclined to agree with Malcot.

The tactics used by Code Pink are questionable, however, the nature of your response is radical to the extent that it reminds me of the Radical Republicans in the aftermath of the Civil War.

What you have proposed sounds too much like the coercive elimation of dissent that Justice Jackson warned against in Barnette v West Virginia.

I humbly assert that Justice Frankfurter was correct whe he said

Freedom of expression is the well-spring of our civilization... The history of civilization is in considerable measure the displacement of error which once held sway as official truth by beliefs which in turn have yielded to other truths. Therefore the liberty of man to search for truth ought not to be fettered, no matter what orthodoxies he may challenge. Dennis v. U.S., 341 U.S. 494 1951

It seems to me that what you are suggesting would fetter through the use of the legal system Code Pink's right to have their voices heard and as Justice Brandeis pointed out a state of war does not negate absolutely the right
    to freedom of speech.

The constitutional right of free speech has been declared to be the same in peace and war. In peace, too, men may differ widely as to what loyalty to our country demands, and an intolerant majority, swayed by passion or by fear, may be prone in the future, as it has been in the past, to stamp as disloyal opinions with which it disagrees.Schaefer v. U. S., 1920

I ask you to consider these words of Justice Davis and the effect that totalitarinism has on society
    as whole

The Constitution of the United States is a law for rulers and people, equally in war and in peace, and covers with the shield of its protection all classes of men, at all times, and under all circumstances. No doctrine, involving more pernicious consequences, was ever invented by the wit of man than that any of its provisions can be suspended
during any of the great exigencies of government. Such a doctrine leads directly to anarchy or despotism, but the theory of necessity on which it is based is false; for the government, within the Constitution, has all the powers granted to it, which are necessary to preserve its existence; as has been happily proved by the result of the great effort to throw off its just authority."

  11. You men make me feel so loved. I have an idea we should form a new organization called Code Blue! Code Blue can counter Code Pink, and JSF here can run the organization. No communists here in JSF land.

  12. Jason, Malcot, Chess,

There are hundreds of thousands of groups who Lobby Congress. I'm sure the most successful of the "Anti-war" groups lobby Congress, they don't interfere.

If this is a freedom of speech issue, what is Code Pink's responsibility to allow my representatives in the Executive Branch to speak?

I don't like Pelosi's and Reid's Congress, but they have a Constitutional right to work. They represent the people more than members of the press do. I can oppose Reid and Pelosi because their actions actually contribute to the conversation America has. What is Code Pink's role?

When Code Pink stops interfering in my free speech, I will not do another post like this.

  13. Jason,

If no one stands for civility in Congress (especially for one I dislike), who will stand for civility when the Congress changes?

There are groups that stand against Code Pink, I'm just trying to do what I can to have them re-learn that free speech goes both ways.

See, I can defend Democrats in office. I would love to see the reverse. That is why Democrats also have to do something about Code Pink.

  14. Jason,
Don't be ridiculous, he's MY bitch and I refuse to share him with the likes of Code Pink! I mean really, have you learned nothing about the relationship that we've had all these years! I called him up one day cause a friend of mine wanted some information and before I hung up the phone he had emailed it to me, she was like wow how did you do that...she had never seen ANYTHING like that.
