Best Speeches at the Republican National Convention Night Two

More speeches I enjoyed.

I will go into detail about the Convention when I get news back from my contacts out there (mostly about boring committee work).  Until then, enjoy these speeches!

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ)

Sen. Rob Portman (R-OH)

Secretary of State Condi Rice

Rep. Paul Ryan

Very few SoCons speaking here (Huckabee and Senator Rand Paul).

And Condi Rice got the biggest applause until Rep. Paul Ryan spoke. She must be reading the Valley.

I will go into detail about the convention on Sunday.

Best Speeches of Tampa 2012 GOP Convention Night One

Since I can't be there, here are some speeches that were inspiring even to the Southlander.

Governor Scott Walker (R-WI)

Ted Cruz, running for TX Senate

Mayor Mia Love (R-UT), running for

And finally Governor Chris Christie (R-NJ)

Now watching night two!

Moderate Republicans, Fiscal Conservatives and the Electoral College Win

[Apologies for the delay of posts. The wi-fi at home isn't working, so now I'm at Starbucks finishing the posts]

The past two Elections have allowed the rise of Moderate Republicans (In 08, I supported  Rudy Giuliani,  Moderate from NYC, and then Moderate Senator John McCain of AZ, won the nomination).  If you think Mitt Romney or Paul Ryan are Social Conservatives, let me throw water on your face (again)and tell you (again), no they aren't.

Let me remind you, on the heels of the Convention, what the different branches are and what they do (and then you will know more then Charles Pierce of Esquire):

The Branches of the GOP

1)   Social Conservatives [SoCons] -- South-East based (the Appalachian States as well) whose Right leaning Politics are Moral and Bible based.  Their saving grace are they are believers of  Democracy around the globe as a way of getting to Peace. Also, big supporters of Israel.  However, they are used to slam the other branches by the MSM and people who don't know the GOP and how it operates;

2) National Security Republicans -- Based in Military areas and throughout cities in the Blue States. The concept of Wilsonianism (as the SoCons believe above) as a means of peace.  These are supporters of Israel and other Democracies.  They believe the Military can get rid of dictators and make Democracies as Truman did in Japan and Europe.  (Most are former Democrats switching after 9/11).  On domestic issues, see Social Libertarians;

3) Moderate Republicans -- Based in Big cities and Blue States (like MA and NJ). This is Governor Romney. They don't follow the SoCons, listen to the National Security Republicans and are Social Libertarians;

4) Fiscal Conservatives -- Most of the Republican Party and their cousins, the Tea Party. EVERYWHERE within the GOP. They (we) don't want to END Government, they (we) want a Government that is not overly AGGRESSIVE (i.e. see smoking laws in bars or Taxamaggedon);

5) Social Libertarians -- A kissing cousin of Libertarianism itself.  These supporters are also found in Blue States.  This is one of the few issues I fight within the Party (Goths, I can use the backup here).  Paulbots are not Libertarians, but will only accept Paul (pere or fils) in the Executive Branch.  SoCons need to know that we exist. What Social Libertarians (and Goths) believe is something simple: As the Government should not have carte blanche with your wallet (Fiscal Cons), neither should the Government decide your lifestyle if everyone is adult and consenting. Here is where my Gothy friends fit in.

And for all the people yelling that Rep. Ryan co-sponsored some SoCon bills?  Here's a hint on how the House of  Representatives work:

A Congressman supports his party brethren on their issues, they support his budget.  Things move, shit gets done.  Ryan is NOT a SoCon. Any Congressperson can cosponsor any bill, if he is not on the House Floor promoting it when the Bill is being debated, then he isn't a SoCon.

That is the work of Democrats needing an Emmanuel Goldstein.

Now that you are smarter then Charles Pierce, why and how is the Romney/Ryan ticket going to win?

Winning Coalition for 2012

When Obama Democrats got the high of calling every opposition to the President a "RAAAAACIST" [Including Hillary! supporters, and the different branches of the GOP], they were putting off the middle of America who will not answer the polls truthfully.

If opposition to President Obama = RAAAAACIST, who will want to poll that way?

Now, let's look at the updated map:

First, the States in play:

Now, lets update with my predictions:

It comes down to two things: The Economy and Coal.

Why did I give NJ and CT to Romney?  These are the folks working down on Wall Street who were attacked by Obama and OWS,

IN, OH, PA, WV and KY all rely on Coal as part of their economy.  Also attacked.

VA is because Obama is cutting the Military budget (not the R's)

NV because Obama attacked Las Vegas.

WI because Ryan and Walker shifted the State to the Right.

My question: Knowing the difference between the branches, why do Democrats and their Praetorians in the press call every GOP activist/elected a SoCon?

Many Thanks to Supporters of the Emergency Bleg!

I raised enough money (not the target $600), but enough to help me survive.

The first thanks goes to those who helped and donated among the Blogger Community:

First, I want to thank Glenn Reynolds for linking and donating.

Thanks to the DaTechGuy who got the word of my situ out into the Blogosphere!

And Chris Muir of Day by Day for being the first to help!  (The Valley will link back and post your work as a way of saying thanks)

Big shout out to RS McCain! Of course.

Now, a quick list of thanks to all who donated:

Thanks James McF.!

Emergency August Bleg (and a Request for Future Tip Jars)

I love posting the Gothic Beauties (i.e Rule 5's) at the beginning of the month.

However, I am still having trouble maintaining a consistent Tip jar to keep me afloat (The Valley is one of the few means of funds that I have).

[Hit the PayPal Button on the Sidebar if you cannot do it here--->]

Right now, I am trying to raise $700 before Sunday.

DatechGuy tried to help earlier, but there was no takers.

There are bills and survival I need to take care of.  Since I cannot get to Tampa this cycle (no corporate sponsorship), please help the Valley with this months Emergency Bleg.

Also, if you can donate, please help on the beginning of the month posts as well. I cannot travel like RS, but I can tell you tales of how to win Los Angeles for the GOP.  I am on the ground and know the players and people.  With the extra funds, I can get to different places in LA to plan strategic moves then get back to you here in the Valley.

I might be stuck in paradise, but, like every Blogger, I need to have some income.

Hence, the Tip jar.

Please help.

Thanks for your donations!

Epistemic Closure and the Left: Charles Pierce as Uberexample

When someone says "You and your [Political] tribe suffer from Epistemic closure," they are saying you are closed minded.

Looking at the Dance of Election 2012 since the Rise of Moderate Republican Governor Mitt Romney and Fiscal Conservative Rep. Paul Ryan (My post on that choice and the new Political Electoral map will come later) has led the Democrats to the Tarkin Doctrine (again).

What do I mean by the Tarkin Doctrine? Read this -- these are five excuses Democrats use to excuse corruption, misogyny and hypocrisy in their ranks for attacking the Right. Here are the five:

Charles Pierce's and Democratic partisans Thought leader

Tarkin Doctrine #1: "The people are confused when they Vote for the Right,"

Tarkin Doctrine #2: "All Conservatives/Republicans are Crazy/Evil/Stupid,"

Tarkin Doctrine #3: "All Conservative/Tea Party Women are Nuts or Sluts,"

Tarkin Doctrine #4:  "All Conservatives are racists/Misogynous/etc et. al,"; and

Tarkin Doctrine #5  "No matter what crime/corruption or evil thing a Democratic official does, Republicans are much worse!" [Charlie Pierces worse sin is THIS]

WOW! With that type of thinking, how can your party ever lose?

It happened to the Democrats in Election 2010 and in the WI Recall, and of course, Democrats were surprised at their loss.

When Democrats and their partisans (especially Charles Pierce) complain about "False Equivalence," It means only one thing. They are willing to attack the GOP but, like Tarkin Doctrine #5, have no desire to clean out their own corruption.

Charles Pierce (L)

When most of your partisans cannot tell the difference between a Moderate Republican like Romney, a Fiscal Conservative like Ryan and a Social Conservative like Huckabee you will lose.

Need I quote Sun Tzu here?

A good example of the Epistemic Closure is Charles Pierce.  There are other democratic partisans, but I want to warn anyone in Tampa that speaks to this so called "Political Analyst," is that he uses the Tarkin Doctrine above to think politically.  Or in other words, he is a tool of the Democratic National Committee.

------------------------------------------------------------
Examples:

I am not in my "newsroom" now and, as I understand it, these people have chosen to eat at a particular fast food restaurant to show their support for the views of someone who helps finance the "repair the gay" scam. If you believe that a chicken sandwich "tastes like freedom," I'm fairly sure I know how you think. Badly. Funny how I didn't see too many of these First Amendment fans standing up for that mosque in lower Manhattan.  -- 8/2/12

There was no point in arguing with the man. There didn't seem even to be any sport in pointing out that the "restoration of integrity in government" that he saw in the results was on behalf of a guy who took to the podium last night three steps ahead of a sitting grand jury. The distance between what I saw and what Ed Hannan saw was too great. I might as well have been talking to him in Finnish.
As hard as Scott Walker may want to pretend to be a conciliator, as hard as he wants to fool the national press in their hopeless quest for a "reasonable" Republican that they can hitch to their centrist Cinderella's carriage, he knows good and goddamn well that it's not in the cards. The forces that put him in office, and the forces that kept him there last night, are too strong for any of that, even if he were sincere, which he most assuredly was not. He is a political creature of the Wisconsin that the people in the Exposition Center last night see in their minds. He cannot exist as a political creature outside of the Wisconsin his supporters believe themselves to have re-captured for good. They are not going to be reasonable. They are going to move further toward the extreme and he's going to move with them, because he is a star now, and he has a role to play. -- 6/6/12

Paul Ryan is an authentically dangerous zealot. He does not want to reform entitlements. He wants to eliminate them. He wants to eliminate them because he doesn't believe they are a legitimate function of government. He is a smiling, aw-shucks murderer of opportunity, a creator of dystopias in which he never will have to live. This now is an argument not over what kind of political commonwealth we will have, but rather whether or not we will have one at all, because Paul Ryan does not believe in the most primary institution of that commonwealth: our government. The first three words of the Preamble to the Constitution make a lie out of every speech he's ever given. He looks at the country and sees its government as something alien that is holding down the individual entrepreneurial genius of 200 million people, and not as their creation, and the vehicle through which that genius can be channelled for the general welfare. -- 8/11/12

If he blows that dog-whistle any louder, Seamus may return from that great roof-rack in the sky.
This should surprise absolutely nobody, because, if there's one thing candidate Romney has demonstrated, it is that he really is quite a remarkable liar. Romney's ran the basic bread-and-butter Republican playbook all throughout the primaries and he's still running it this summer. The meretricious use of the president's "You didn't build it" line. The truthless welfare baiting on the commercials. Sooner or later, he was going to get around to this particular line of bullshit because it's the obvious next step. Asking a Republican presidential candidate to abandon race-baiting entirely is to ask for an awful lot of 13-second Republican stump speeches. Asking Willard Romney to do it is to assume that there is muck so foul that he will not immerse himself in it to be president. Unless Curiosity finds mud on Mars, you're pretty much out of luck there. -- 8/16/12 (attacking Moderate Republican Romney with...The Race card!)

-------------------------------------

Charles Pierce, as shown by the examples above, does not analyze, he judges, he casts out, he stereotypes.  And he still cannot tell the difference between the Moderates and the Social Conservatives.

I would like a job like Charles Pierce.  He is getting paid the big bucks (as my late father would say) to Bullshit about people he knows nothing about. Then, is surprised when they beat his candidate.  Thus, Pierce is the perfect example of Epistemic Closure.

My question to the Left: Why follow a writer like Charles Pierce if he cannot understand the Right? And is proven wrong again and again?

My question to the Right: Why do writers like Charles Pierce (and their Blog commenter) suffer from Epistemic Closure?

My question to Charles Pierce: Why write about Politics when you know nothing of the different branches and people of the Republican Party? and, How can I get paid to be as closed minded as you?

Rep. Akin, Please Go Now.

I don't support what Rep. Akin said. I think what he said was idiotic and he should leave the Politcal Realm NOW.
When Dana Loesch, Missouri Voter and tea party radio host says its time to leave the Political field, you GO!

If Moderate Republican Governor Mitt Romney (and POTUS candidate) and Conservative Talk Show host (and rabble rouser) Rush Limbaugh both agree its time to go, then GO!

Rep. Akin, you put your foot in it and nearly damaged the work we are trying to do in Los Angeles. We have Social Libertarians and artists who qualify for "Leave Us Alone Coalition,"  Leave the social issues alone and let people live in peace.

For what Rep Akin said, the Valley says its time for him to leave. NOW

Please take MN State Rep. Kerry Gauthier with you.

(I challenge Democrats to stand up against Rep. Kerry Gauthier)

Where's Henry Waxman? Not in Los Angeles, But Living Large in Bethesda, MD!

If we lived in a Parliamentary system (as the UK does), it would not matter where a Congressional candidate makes his or her home.  But as Americans, we believe in the  Cincinnatus concept of Public office:

Omnia reliquit servare rempublicam
("He relinquished everything to save the Republic")

This was promoted by General (then President) George Washington.

Who was Cincinnatus and what does this have to do Henry Waxman of Maryland?

Cincinnatus abandons the Plow by Juan Antonio Ribera, c. 1806
Follow me!

Have you ever heard the story of the farmer plucked by Roman Republic to be a Dictator? That same dictator, after he saved his people returned to his farm?  That was Cincinnatus.

Now, what does this have to do with Henry Waxman of Maryland?

Let's read California Election Law (which I had to follow in my run for Central Committee):

8001. (a) No declaration of candidacy for a partisan office or for
membership on a county central committee shall be filed, by a
candidate unless (1) at the time of presentation of the declaration
and continuously for not less than three months immediately prior to
that time, or for as long as he has been eligible to register to vote
in the state, the candidate is shown by his affidavit of
registration to be affiliated with the political party the nomination
of which he seeks,

Re-read the red:

No declaration of candidacy for a partisan office or for membership
on a county central committee shall be filed, by a candidate ....for as long
as he has been eligible to register to vote in the state,

In other words, you cannot run for any partisan (or non-partisan) office in California without actually living in California.

Every candidate has to file from their home, let's see where Bill Bloomfield filed from:

Manhattan Beach, CA

Now let's look at Henry Waxman, running in the 33rd District of California:

Bethesda, MD (3,000 Miles away)

And where does Henry Waxman live?

He has lived in a place where they had to re-value his home.....Should I look back further into the FEC records?  I don't think Waxman pays California Taxes either.

And trust me, I tried looking for Waxman on the Westside and before the 405. Each city, from Santa Monica to Hollywood -- Henry Waxman does not live in Los Angeles!

Thus he has no right to run for office in the 33rd!
Vote for the ONLY Legal Los Angeles Candidate in the CA-33:
Bill Bloomfield!

He is a modern Cincinnatus for Los Angeles.

My question: Will someone on Capitol Hill file Ethics Charges on Henry Waxman living out of the district by 3,000 miles?

Post 1000 -- Where We've Been, Where I'm Going

Way back in the mists of time (actually, the Ides of March of 06), I wrote this:

In the book, The Great Game by Peter Hopkirk he describes the history of the British and Russian Empires during the 19th and early 20th Century (Pre-October Revolution). The British Empire during that time faced their own Waterloo at the Khyber Pass. Your journeyman for this blog is experiencing a transition, not unlike the British in 1919. I am between many things, covered only by the shadows of the San Fernando Mountains; I am between jobs (and looking for a new career), between beliefs (a Jew who enjoys going to Bel Air Presbyterian Church) and worried about my own purpose in life. Through this blog, I hope to find my way, out of the pass and out of the Valley of the Shadow.

Since then, I left Bel Air Church, rediscovered my Judaism (still not Temple going though); I have discovered more about my own Mental health then most people (and tried to adapt to it); I have also moved in Higher circles in RPLAC and the CAGOP.  Because of the Valley, my voice is listened to. (And after I go on a book and coffee date with a beautiful Gothy Muse and tell her the tale THEN I will tell that rest of the story here,)

And let's not forget that I fully embraced my Goth side after 2008 (the Plague Year and Shaking the Disease).  With that, I opened up many doors.  Here in LA, I play "Alderman to the LA Goths,"  How will that turn out?

Stay Tuned.

I usually put my favorite posts on my "Best of..." End/Beginning of New Year.  [See Sidebar]

My question to all my loyal readers, what was your favorite post? What do you find here in this Valley that you don't find in other Blogs?

And before I leave this post, my favorite Gothy Muse so far (yes, Rule 5 with Tip Jar here):

Kat Von D (in Red)

Thanks for reading!

Back Again! (Miss me?)

This was not the week to quit smoking.  :}

Between the Heat and personal Drama, I was unable to get back to the Valley.

The next post is Post 1000, also deciding what belongs there took up my brain time as well.

For now, before I get serious, here is some music to enjoy before Post 1000.

Now, some music

Surprise! A movie! Enjoy Gone in 60 seconds with Nick Cage.

See you at Post 1000!

Saturday Night Movie Night -- John Carpenter's Vampires

Welcome back to Saturday Night Movie Night!

Tonight, its time to enjoy John Carpenter's Vampires!

Throughout the past two weeks, I've had to deal with family being sick (or like this week) or my own self.  I owe three posts.  Which are they?

1) Space Colonies and the American Polity (2) -- Landing on Earth 2. This is tomorrow night;

2) Mental health and the Democrats False Meme (2) -- Democrats have been calling Republicans (and others aligned) crazy.  As someone dealing with Madness, let me tell you the ways this leads to Epistemic Closure. Blame Steve Benen and Charles Pierce.

3) The Politics of Love vs. The Politics of Anger -- who wins? -- Here's a hint, what party doesn't blame the public when they lose Elections? Which party accepts people within their party that do not need Ivy Degrees? The party of the People is NOT the Democrats.

It's the Dog Days, nothing serious happens in American Politics until it does.

Now, first some music, then the movie.

Now the movie:

See you back here tomorrow.

Tonight, I am at Mode:M!

You're Doing it Wrong! 3: Gay Rights Supporters

Yes, I'm a Conservative Republican.

But I'm also a Californian who voted No on 8.

I am a Goth who is a Social Libertarian and every time I try to make progress on this front, a so-called "Gay Rights," advocate attacks the GOP (not knowing the difference between Moderate Republicans like Romney or Tea Party Republicans like Rep. Paul Ryan or Social Conservatives like Governor Huckabee) and makes it harder for Gay Rights to be a bi-partisan effort.

I love women, but I believe every consenting adult should have a right to be happy (which fits perfectly with my philosophy of being Conservative)

I think Dan Savage and others on the Left forget how the system works.

If you do not win in Elections (that is, by putting ALL your voters into a Politico Ghetto), you have to convince the folks who have already won to support your side.

To pass bills in Congress, you need to get Bi-partisan support.  So when Dan Savage yells, "Kill all Republicans!" Why should any Republican Legislator support Gay Rights under any circumstances?

Again, I have to teach this lesson to the Left every day: We are not all Social Conservatives.
(I had to tell an HBO Director this ALL THE TIME, he never listened.)

If you call us names, we will defend our (Political) Tribe.  Don't insult us, we might listen why your views might coincide with ours.

Gay Marriage is becoming normalized across the States.  However, those supporters of Gay Rights are doing everything through the courts rather then courting the public.

Willie Wonka Meme meets Current Events

As an example of the push back, the CEO of Chick-fil-a said a stupid thing.  I like Chick-fil-a's food.  Every Gay Rights advocate wanted to use the power of the State to block CFA.  Today, in reports across the fruited plain, CFA is doing very brisk business.  Some prognosticators, like Dana Loesch, say this is prep for November.

It jumped from being a Gay Rights issue to a First Amendment issue, that's why it lost.

Let Glenn Greenwald, Liberal, explain:

It’s always easy to get people to condemn threats to free speech when the speech being threatened is speech that they like. It’s much more difficult to induce support for free speech rights when the speech being punished is speech they find repellent. But having Mayors and other officials punish businesses for the political and social views of their executives — regardless of what those views are — is as pure a violation of the First Amendment’s guarantee of free speech as it gets, and beyond that, is genuinely dangerous.

If you support what Emanuel is doing here, then you should be equally supportive of a Mayor in Texas or a Governor in Idaho who blocks businesses from opening if they are run by those who support same-sex marriage — or who oppose American wars, or who support reproductive rights, or who favor single-payer health care, or which donates to LGBT groups and Planned Parenthood, on the ground that such views are offensive to Christian or conservative residents. You can’t cheer when political officials punish the expression of views you dislike and then expect to be taken seriously when you wrap yourself in the banner of free speech in order to protest state punishment of views you like and share. Free speech rights means that government officials are barred from creating lists of approved and disapproved political ideas and then using the power of the state to enforce those preferences.

Thank you Mr. Greenwald for making my point.

If the Gay Rights people want to win, they need to figure out how to win over Republicans, Conservatives (even Social), and Tea Partiers.  Yelling at us and calling us names will not do it.

President Obama only switched his views on Gay Marriage before a fundraiser. Where were the protests then?

And if the Gay Rights people want to have any standing, look at how the Muslim brotherhood and Iran treats its gays and then attack Republicans.  The difference is so far that its the difference between calling someone a "hack," (the GOP) and a Nazi (Iran).

But Dan Savage does not know how bills get passed or to win people to his side.  He is doing more harm to his issue then any Social Conservative.

My question: Why have the Gay Rights advocates forget to court the Public and the Other Major political party in their Country?
