Doctor Who -- Robots of Death

It's Saturday night! Time for a Doctor Who feature!

Tonight's story is The Robots of Death!

While some people are whinging about the last post (I sourced my material and I lived through it), I was at the RPLAC two year re-structural meeting today.

What was I doing?

Deal making, strategies, networking for future work (State party and two campaigns), and cheering on my friends and mentors.

I can happily say, that Chairwoman Jane Barnett has now won a new term!  Yay!
The article for the American Spectator is in edit mode and the job proposal will be done by my birthday; The book proposal before Christmas.

In the article (like the post and the upcoming book), I call out those who helped screw Los Angeles Republicans; One cannot unsee what one lives through.

It's who I am, I call out those who harm my friends or allies.  You help me, I help you -- the game of Politics is always like that since Pericles.
Don't hate the players and don't hate the game -- it is what it is.
Now then, the Robots of Death is based off an Agatha Christie story (Guess which one).  The Robots are very 70's looking (scary too).  Enjoy the show!

Doctor Who -- The Deadly Assassin

It's Saturday night, time for Doctor Who Theatre!

Tonight's episode is The Deadly Assassin.  A tale of Doctor Who's archenemy: The Master and his race, the Time Lords.  This was first introduction to The Master and the Time Lords for me.  On an early Bronx BBS service, that was my nom de plume. (After he returned to full form later in the series) Yes, that was on a Commodore 64.

My late father and I would go up to the Bronx for meeting of the BBS.  I also arranged a meeting at a New York City Science Fiction convention with a bunch of sci-fi geeks.  I was already an event planner in High School!

(And if you look on the sidebar, I'm still available to work as one)

For the article I am writing, I am 1,300 words into a 5,000 word piece.  Hopefully, it will be a main article in January or February.  Again, thanks to Robert Mc Cain for walking me through this.  The article has a few purposes, hopefully, it will succeed in all three.  (Cross fingers, say prayers). Stay tuned.

And now, a story of Politics, regeneration and evil reborn.  Now, the Deadly Assassin!

Doctor Who -- The Paradise Towers

A late October Saturday night which means another scary Doctor Who!

Right now, I am still looking for the Day Job before my Birthday (The Dream Job I cannot move on until after Election Day) -- and my Birthday is coming soon.  (Check your in-box to see if you are invited)

And this week, I am planning out my Non-fiction book as well.   More news post-election.
I am thinking of a Three Act Night for my 40th Birthday (G-d I'm old!) .  More on that later as we get closer. (Hit my Tip Jar or Amazon Wishlist if you want to help)

While I am filled with ideas, whether Policy (I am available to work as Congressional staff after the Election), fundraising or writing/research, I enjoy getting paid for doing them.   Just shoot me an email on any of those three, and I will respond within 24 hours.

And this week: Los Angeles and California State Endorsements, including Propositions!

Now the Paradise Towers.

Why did I choose this one?

The Seventh Doctor and Mel (a beautuiful Redhead!) are lost in an apartment complex that has fallen apart, what has risen is what makes it good for a late October night!

Enjoy Paradise Towers!

My question for tonight:  What is your version of Dystopia?

The Best Day Job for JSF

Since I have been out of work for two years, here is what I've been looking for:

A job in sales that is not just commission based, (most jobs I went to at the job fair today were strictly commission only) but has an hourly or salary is verrry helpful.

I can sell (just like my late father), I can write and research, and I understand the Legislative and Political process in Los Angeles, and California and Washington, DC (Lobbying is not a curse word for me, it is an aspiration).

I'd be happy working in a bookstore along Ventura Blvd or at The Grove. I would like to work for magazines, newspapers or new media (more on that on the Southland Fundraiser post). If there is a way to make money writing in the Valley (or get hired to write about what I like), I'm so in (and make a decent salary).

OK, that's what I'm looking for to keep the dream job alive.

Any advice?

The Job Search: The Day Job and the Dream Job

Two posts tonight on a more personal (yet I will always cite the Political) front.

The first post will be about my hunt for a day job, the second post will return us once again to the story of the Southland Fundraiser.

While I begin to compose these posts (and send emails at the same time), enjoy this song:

Where I've Been, Where I'm Going (Re-boot - ii)

--------------------------------------------------
Everything is on pause for a minute.

My Uncle is back in the hospital, please say a prayer for him. He's a tough SOB and I looked up to him when I was growing up. I only want the best for him. He can ride me through the job hunt when he gets better, and I want him better.

Death seems to be everywhere, Tim Russert, my CA mentor (she will be mentioned in the next California Encyclical), and George Carlin. Enough with the death and dying.

I'm going to get back to the Valley, but first I'm going to the water, by the Santa Monica Pier today.

The other Encyclicals will be pushed back a week. I just need to clear my head. By the way, I ended up in the local edition of the Los Angeles Times, here is the article. And yes, as of Tuesday, SAG will kill any movie and TV business in Los Angeles in honor of the strike. And yes, the reporter spelt my last name wrong:

"Officials are also concerned that another media-related strike could cripple the region, just as Burbank and Glendale are beginning to recover from the three-month Writers Guild of America strike that cost the state $2.1 billion in lost wages and production. The Screen Actors Guild is currently negotiating with studios to hammer out a new contract before it expires on Monday.

“The county’s job picture is being destabilized by the June 30 expiration of the Screen Actors Guild contract,” said Jack Kyser, chief economist for the Los Angeles Economic Development Corp.

“While employment in motion picture and sound recording was up by 2,100 jobs from April to May, it was down over the year by 5,700 jobs. The major studios have been hesitant to start work on a film. Many in the industry are saying that a de facto strike is underway.”

The writers strike was still fresh on the mind for some job seekers at the Verdugo center on Tuesday. Joseph Fine, 37, of Burbank, was laid off two weeks ago from an advertising agency still suffering under the weight of the writers strike.

“It hurt us,” said Fine, who, in addition to setting up interviews at the job center, has also turned to the Internet to help raise money and look for employment. He is hoping to raise more than $7,000 through www.valley-of-the-shadow.blogspot.com , a blog he created to also write about his true passion, politics, which he hopes will catapult him into a political job.

But Fine’s success may depend on how much he is willing to veer from his desired political path, a conflict many job seekers are also experiencing, Sernas said.“Some have certain wage expectations that no longer exist, and some want their old job back,” she said. “People might have to compromise.”

This is me -- I compromised looking for work the last two times. Not this time.

Let's end with some laughs from the late George Carlin. While I am away, smile and pray:

-----------------------------------------------------------
Sorry I absconded there, but here is what will show up in the Valley in the next 72 hours:

A) Welcome. Music. Etc. post -- There are a few more linkers (some local, some not) and I need to highlight their Blogs.

B) The Last California Encyclical -- which will mention a former mentor who had her funeral this past week that the LA Times did not cover. This post will lead to the Prep of the Republican Encyclicals beginning after the 4th.

C) How Democrats are not planning a "new style of Politics" if they win this November. Instead, they allow their hate of the past 8 years to seep through.

And after these posts -- What my becoming radicalized means for the future of the Valley and Bi-partisanship.

Now, what happened to me?

After being in mourning for Brother Tim, I found out there was a funeral for a Republican activist this week. More on that later -- but add to the fact that I never finished mourning for my dad, and it became somewhat overwhelming.

After my Dad died, I have been in survival mode. Now that my family is in a good position, I can now focus on getting myself into a better job that relates to my interests. For the past two jobs, I've grabbed the first thing with detriment to my soul.

I am looking for a job in Los Angeles that deals in Politics or Policy (of course, with a Conservative or Republican bent) that pays over $40,000/year.

There are three clocks I am working against:

I) The Republican Encyclicals start after July 4th;
2) The Blog World Convention is on September 20; and
3) I am going to be in Washington DC the week of October 12 to promote the Republican and California Encyclicals.

And while I was away, the Valley was Google Bombed. What statement? The Wet Quintet. Why? I'd like to know.

If you can help with either the job hunt or the answer to the Google Bomb, email me. Thanks.
