Memorial Day 2011

This holiday is not about the sales or the getaways, but it is simply a remembrance of all the soldiers who defended our country.
And still do so today.
G-d bless the American military for all the great work they do!

California is the place where Republican Monies Should Go: the NYGOP failed again!

To Chairman Reince Priebus;
Re: Winning 2012 with the Right State

Mr. Chairman:

I am originally a New Yorker; I was involved in NYC politics when I was a Liberal Democrat, and in Long Island, I became a Republican. After spending some time in DC, I have moved out to Los Angeles, California and have been involved as a Republican since 2003.

As we come into the 2012 Cycle, it is time to think where to invest national funds.  Here's a hint: New York State will not be yours anytime soon; here in California, we only have one county to flip and the hard work is being done by multiple ground troops.

History is always precedence and recent history even more so.

Two (1, 2)  special  elections in Upstate New York that should have gone to the Republicans did not.  Upstate New York, along with Long Island, were supposed to be a bedrock of support for Republicans.  If you go by the special elections and regular elections, not so.

Here in Los Angeles, where we are not expected to win because of Prop 14 and the Westside, two candidates have come through to fight (and fight hard).  Lydia Gutirrerz put up a damn good fight for Community College Board and now, in CD CA-36, Craig Huey, Republican is there to fight.

RPLAC supported both. CAGOP supported both.

Where is the RNC?

To win California, you just need to win one county: Los Angeles

The New York State GOP has no fighting spirit or any sense of opposing the current Democratic leadership.  They couldn't even run a candidate against Senator Hillary Clinton.  Twice.  That's not the CAGOP or RPLAC's fault.

So, Chairman Pribius, I am writing book about why to invest in Los Angeles and California politics.  Before it is written, I hope you come through and help raise $60 Million for the CAGOP (and $30 Million for RPLAC).

The political frontier is here.  Join us.

Sincerely,
JSF

No Hot Dog Fence Jokes about this Forest Hills Congressman

I grew up in Rep. Wiener's district of Forest Hills.

And then this afternoon, the news came from twitter, Memeorandum and The Other McCain.

First, let's see who Rep. Wiener is married to:

She was a member of Secretary of State Clinton's Senate and Presidential campaign staff.

Now, here is what happened today (h/t Publius of Big Government):

Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY 9) finds himself in a late night online pickle.

This evening a photo surfaced on Congressman Weiner’s yfrog account and in his verified Twitter timeline of a man in his underwear with an erection. The photo was reportedly sent to a woman on Twitter. We’ve protected her name and her account, which was at one time verified to be active but has since been deleted after the photo in question was deleted. Coincidentally, the rest of the photos in the congressman’s alleged yfrog account were also deleted around 11 p.m. eastern

Now, when a New York Republican Congressman was shown cheating on his wife on craigslist, he resigned (hence the election earlier this week); Will Weiner resign?

Personally, I think Alan Hevesi's son should run for that seat.  He can't do any worse then Rep. Weiner.

My question: Why do men cheat on beautiful women?

Two Words that Changed President Obama into President George H.W. Bush

While the Valley was down, I was keeping up with the news of the Obama-Bibi meetings.

Now that the Valley has returned, I noticed how President Obama turned into a copy of President Bush Pere.  How?

Two words.

The First Word
First let's start with President Obama's Mideast Speech:

 And here is the transcript.

And here are the words that stand out:

"The borders of Israel and Palestine should be based on the 1967 lines with mutually agreed swaps, so that secure and recognized borders are established for both states. The Palestinian people must have the right to govern themselves, and reach their potential, in a sovereign and contiguous state.

"As for security, every state has the right to self-defense, and Israel must be able to defend itself – by itself – against any threat. Provisions must also be robust enough to prevent a resurgence of terrorism; to stop the infiltration of weapons; and to provide effective border security. The full and phased withdrawal of Israeli military forces should be coordinated with the assumption of Palestinian security responsibility in a sovereign, non-militarized state,"

Note the highlighted word: 1967.

President Obama may be a Constitutional scholar (still unproven, see Libya; Non-use of War Powers Act), but he is not a history major.

In 1967, Twelve (Yes, TWELVE) Arab countries and allies went after Israel for six daysIsrael won the war and the land.

What did Israel get in return for the Gaza Strip?

Missiles.

Let's take a look at a Map of Israel circa 1967:

Now let's take a look at Israel today (circa 2011):

Now President Obama gave a speech at AIPAC;  Here is a portion of it:

"By definition, it means that the parties themselves -– Israelis and Palestinians -– will negotiate a border that is different than the one that existed on June 4, 1967. (Applause.) That’s what mutually agreed-upon swaps means. It is a well-known formula to all who have worked on this issue for a generation. It allows the parties themselves to account for the changes that have taken place over the last 44 years. (Applause.) It allows the parties themselves to take account of those changes, including the new demographic realities on the ground, and the needs of both sides. The ultimate goal is two states for two people: Israel as a Jewish state and the homeland for the Jewish people — (applause) — and the State of Palestine as the homeland for the Palestinian people — each state in joined self-determination, mutual recognition, and peace. (Applause.)"

The question for American Jews of voting age is:

Was President Obama telling the truth in his State Department speech or was he lying?

For someone touted as an intelligent speech maker, he needs a lot of help telling the public "What he really means,"  A LOT.

In 1992, President Bush pere angered the American Jewish population by the words of his Secretary of State.  The Jewish voting population remembered election time

Before we leave the word 1967, again I ask, was he telling the truth in his State department speech or was he lying?

We Jews should know by October 2012.

The Second Word

I was originally going to compare President Obama to Mayor Dinkins or Mayor James Hahn, but peer to peer always seems to work.  Hence, POTUS to POTUS.

This word lies the seeds of his future defeat.  It will cause the modern democrats to sink like a stone for quite a while electorally.

That word is RAAAAACIST!

President Obama was sold as a post-racial candidate who would move America beyond the cries of Reverend Sharpton and Reverend Jesse Jackson Sr.

But every time he was opposed; By the Hillary! supporters; By the Republicans in Congress and in media; By the Tea partiers and finally everyone else, the word came upon his partisans lips.

If you cry RAAAACIST, you are doing nothing to solve the problem (If you really hate people by skin color, gender, creed, or anything, get the hell out of here -- you are a racist, etc.).  If you hate racism so damn much, change the person that is.

Nope.

It's being used as a tune to shut up opposition.

We will speak louder in 2012 then in 2009.

For want of two words, the Obama Presidency was lost.

My question: With the Obama coalition broken, which Republican will build a new coalition? And what will that coalition look like?

After the Big Blogger shutdown, my toolbar had an EPIC FAIL.

Notice, no links, or pics or video.  No Bold, no italics, font changes or font size changes.

Why?

My toolbar does not work.

When my Toolbar is working fully, I will post about my upcoming speech this weekend.

To steal a quote from Alien3:

This Band Needs a Record Label -- Many of Odd Nature

(And this week, please hit my Tip Jar)

I know a great singer to a great band (and yes, she is a great friend too.)  Her name is Charly and her band is Many of Odd Nature.

When they go onstage, it isn't just music; It is magic, mirth and Old School.

Many of Odd nature should be playing all the major Goth festivals around the world.

I saw them play two weeks ago at Bar Sinister and I know why I raved about the band originally. It's not just about the music (and for my politico readers, this is important), but putting on a hell of a show.

If there is anyone who can rep them or sign them to a major label, email Charly here.

And here is some of what you are missing by not seeing Many of Odd nature:

Many of Odd Nature, Wolf vs. Moon (at Bar Sin)

This band needs to get signed!

Trump's Game: Using New York tactics in a National Game

If you were reading the Valley in March, I called out Donald Trump's faux campaign.  He is not serious, he was never serious.  He never even filed with the Federal Election Commission.

Inside the game of politics, Karma always rules and History always repeats.

Every Presidential campaign has the seeds of another historical campaign.  Every Democratic candidate running in 2004 thought it was Election 1992, instead it was a replay of Election 1996.

Next year's campaign is a replay of Election 1980 -- more detail in a later post.

Now that Trump is dropping in the polls, the question becomes: What as he doing there to begin with?

Let's ride the Wayback machine to the Republican Primary 2008.

Mayor Guliani (R-NY) was forced out by a team-up by Former Governor Huckabee and Former Governor Romney.

Here in the Southland, Rudy was loved by every GOP activist in the basin (we are Social Libertarians,  after all).  When Giuliani lost in Florida, he could not go forward.

As we get closer to 2012, Romney (and maybe Huckabee) are front runners.

What Trump did by playing the "Birther," card was go on offense where Romney would never attack. Yes, it was offensive, but it was not being used to attack President Obama, it was a play to weaken Romney.

Weakening Romney is not that hard, he has no major defenders in the Right Blogosphere and he has shown no support for any Republicans under fire.  What Trump did was force Romney to play by new rules (which Romney cannot learn).  Now that the "RAAAAACIST," card has been played out (try it in 2012 my Democratic opponents) going on offense, to treat Obama the way Bush fils was treated is the new rule

Karma, baby

While Trump retires (he doesn't need the Apprentice anymore -- he can pass a lot of stuff over to his kids), he will come in on Giuliani's recommendation for a Government position.

In a Palin Administration.

Trump helped his Rudy, Rudy will return the favor.  New York Rules will beat the establishment every time.

My question: Who is smarter, Rudy or Palin?

Is This Thing Still On?

Sorry all for the short break, but my hair got out of control so I sort of looked like this:

Yes, I was Cousin Itt or a Tribble.

Now that my hair is back to normal, so is my writing schedule.  The book project proposal is near finished and I am working on another writing project for the California Republican Party (I'm not telling what it is until it's finished or maybe not).

Tonight, I'm cooking my Mom one of her favorite dishes: Linguini with Red Clam Sauce.  Mind you, I'm not a cook or a chef, but I will try to do good tonight.  (It's Mother's Day -- Give your Mom the best; You know she deserves it!)

Now while I am cooking (I also learned how to cook the best damn Chili last week too -- after that, go to Hard Times Cafe in the DC Beltway), here is a tune to enjoy:

Muppets, Bohemian Rhapsody

Queen, Bohemian Rhapsody

I am posting this week. Be ready!

Three Ways to look at the End of OBL

With Osama Bin Laden dead, what happens next, both internationally and domestically?

Here is a bit of foresight into the (very) near future:

I)  Middle East and Central Asia -  With the fires of freedom burning around the Middle East and Central Asia, (Read this Blog for more info on the Caucuses and Central Asia), President Obama has not settled on a foreign policy: Is it Nixonianism where this Administration supports the current rulers? Or will the Obama Administration follow President Bush fils lead and strike towards Wilsonianism, a belief that more Democracies bring peace (this is what I believe)?

Two and a half years in and no one can tell me what the "Obama Doctrine," is.

Any President can follow his predecessor (see Bay of Pigs for example), but what makes a Presidency is the definition of what the President stands for.  And today, I still don't know what Obama believes.  His actions belie his words.

II) Domestic Politics -- The Democrats -- This is not a "win," for the Democrats or President Obama, it is a victory for all Americans and all the Presidents who were involved in trying to get Osama Bin Ladin.  Before 9/11/01, NO ONE had any understanding of what Al Queda was aiming for.

I don't blame any policy maker before 9/11.

But I do remember every time President Bush tried ANYTHING (including the introduction of Wilsonianism into a region lacking Democracy), there were the professional naysayers.  Following bank transfers? tapping phone calls? Gitmo?

A lot of us who supported the last Administration will never forget the demonization and hand tying of the last Administration by the Left.

As long as Democrats and their partisans do not turn this into a "Wellstone Memorial," moment, America will be fine.  If  they go down that path, recent history should be revived.  I will happily join in.

III)  Domestic Politics -- The Republicans Election 2012 is not in the bag for the Democrats (as I detail here).  The Democrats used the guidebook on the War on Terror written by a Republican Administration.

The major media is looking at Election 2012 as a replay of Election 2008 -- It isn't.  It's a replay of Election 1992 (President Clinton announced his Presidential campaign on October 2, 1991) or Election 1980 (President Reagan announced November 13, 1979).

As I tweeted to a friend this week: One victory overseas does not an Election make (yes, I wrote as Yoda).   Don't believe me? Tell me about about President Bush pere's second term.  Or President Carter's.

And finally, which party has been in the corner of the Intelligence agents? Hint: It was not the Republicans who wanted to prosecute Our Friends in the Dark.  (And Our Friends in the Dark deserve many kudos)

My question: Why did the Democrats overturn the belief "Politics stops at the waters edge," during the last administration but want it followed during this administration?
