Florida Primary 2012: Romney is Still not in Margaritaville
Ahhh...the Sunshine State where Ponce De Leon was looking for the Fountain of Youth.
It is also the other part of the country where Beach Bums hang their flip flops. (Venice Beach is the other place). Robert McCain was here reporting the Florida Primary. Romney won, but not as cleanly as the News reports.
After the numbers came in, I studied them and the Primary win map. So, what's the story on this Particular Harbor?
In the Panhandle, the most Republican part of the state, Speaker Gingrich won.
However, I have to repeat this until it gets heard:
Romney is following Meg Whitman's path of buying the Primary with no plan for the General. If Romney wins, Republicans lose.
The Republican Counties know what is going on; Romney has one (Iowa went to Senator Santorum) state plus Florida (site of the Republican National Convention -- I will be there!), that does not mean a victory. That only is two states.
Nothing is decided until Super Tuesday, and even then maybe not.
My question: If Romney cannot win over Republicans, how can he build a base of support for the General Election?
Here are tonight's speeches:
Governor Mitt Romney, Florida 2012
Speaker Gingrich, Florida 2012
Now, a Parrothead tune:
Jimmy Buffett, Tin Cup Chalice (Live in Vienna, VA 2011)
And one more (I am a Parrotthead AND a Goth):
Jimmy Buffett, Floridays
